Hey guys, I got an interesting one.

Essentially, the vents on the driver side (left of steering wheel and the vent in the middle closest to the steering wheel) aren't blowing the same temperature as the passenger side vents.

At first, it was that the driver side vents weren't blowing as much air as the passenger vents, doesn't matter the fan speed, it was noticeable that the air was lower. Looked around on the forums and the FB group, saw a couple of people have an issue with a blend door actuator, but in their cases, the driver vent(s) were either not working or not blowing hot / cold. First I thought maybe it was my cabin air filter, an easy fix? As I was due for one anyways. (I'm at 44k miles now) I changed that, and now the vents blow the same amount (at least that's what it feels like) But the temp problem still remained. Checked my coolant and noticed it was pretty low, refilled that, temp problem still remains.

I'm severely hoping it's not my blend door actuator, as I don't want to take apart the whole dash to get it to it, or pay Toyota a ransom to replace it.

I'm thinking it could just need a re-initialization? As it's still working. Whenever it's on max a/c, the power is there, but the vents feel slightly warmer than the frigid air coming from the passenger vents. Whenever I turn both sides to 84 degrees and have the fan on max power, it's warm but it's not as hot as the passenger vents.

If I do need a re-initialization, does anyone know how to do that or what to use to do it? I don't have bimmerlink so i'm not sure if I could do it on there. Protool maybe?

If anyone has any suggestions that'd be awesome. Thanks!

So you have driver side issue on both temperature and blower speed OR just temp or just speed??

Did you scan for fault codes?

Reflashed via Bimmer code and no change.

edit - ac on or off makes no difference. Same temp no matter what on drivers side, at any vent setting.

this is what I get.

I have the exact same fault code. Now whenever I turn it on Max A/C, my driver vents are warm. I tried looking up the error code and didn't find much about it except this older TSB for a 7 series.

Seems like it's just a software update / reinitialization. But im not 100% if this would be the fix for it. I don't have ISTA to verify it either.

I will get the stuff needed for ISTA and see if it works. I need the stuff for other things anyways.

Drove the car today and the issue wasn’t there…. Maybe the coding worked and it just needed a key cycle to kick in? I did not power the car all the way down last night for testing.

That's interesting. Was ISTA hard to use? I'm thinking of doing the coding as well this weekend and seeing if that fixes my issue

I didnt use ISTA yet. Need the cable for it first. I just tried reflashing the AC module with Bimmer code (so no update, just reloaded the cal). Will double verify next week when I drive the car again.

How did you reflash it with bimmercode?? Or what did you do?

I just went in the app, changed one setting in the ac module and hit the flash button. It rewrites the entire module when you do that. But again, this isn’t any sort of update.

Update after drive #2. Everything is still working as intended after recoding with Bimmer code. Will be driving again tomorrow for another test.
