I went ahead and ordered that OBDlinkCX and going to download bimmercode on my ios so I can take care of these maintenance lights. If I have any issues I will report back.

Thanks for the info so far.

Btw I just noticed you are in GA. What part? I am in waycross.
BimmerLink does the maintenance resets. Two separate apps.

Ok surprisingly it was easier than I thought. I did clear out some errors as well. I did this first due to the problems mentioned earlier. Now what is interesting is that it will not allow you to permanently clear out the oil maintenance as well as other maintenance intervals. But you can reset them.

But I did the typical oil maintenance reset, the exhaust valve/sport mode always on, and got rid of the artificial sound. Is there anything else I should do? Thanks for all the help.

My BMW mechanic buddy showed me some Atari reset I swear straight from the 80s. Hold some button down you didn’t even know was there way too long, then 3 times click something…. yup, already forgot. Bimmerlink ?

Is is possible to have a "service book" history saved to the car itself, like on BMW? If yes, how to do it?

Hey everybody, new to this site. I found it after I experienced a problem at the dealership and looked for the answer online. I have to say, after reading this thread I solved the problem rather quickly, so thank you!

Get this…..

1045 miles on the Supra odometer and the oil service required light came up on the dash last month. Found out the timer is set for either 10 K miles or one year. So, I made an appointment to have the oil changed because it has been over a year and while I was at it, I had already prepaid for seven years worth of annual ceramic coating so I also scheduled the Eco Block for today.

But I had a strange feeling I was going to have some sort of a problem when I took my Supra in for its oil change, being a BMW and all that. I’m really not wild anyway, that strangers sit in my vehicle, drive my vehicle or work on my vehicle to begin with. There are a lot of bozos out there.

So I take the Supra up this morning in the rain to get an Eco Block ceramic coating put on it and an oil change. First time the Supra has ever been out in a rain other than a small drizzle so, I wasn’t real happy about that. Luckily the weather did change over when I left the dealership. The service guy told me it would take approximately three hours.

So, after waiting three hours, I went out and asked the service guy to check on my car to see how it was coming along. I had spoken with the mechanic beforehand because I had installed an aftermarket oil catch can and had a new vented oil cap that goes into the same system and I wanted to let him know about removing the AN fitting before he tried to unscrew the oil filler cap. Anyway, that all went well evidently, but the service guy came back and told me there was a problem. I asked what’s the problem? He said we can’t reset your maintenance required light because you went over the 12 month period into the 13th month and after that the maintenance required light and message can’t be reset normally and I’d need to have a master technician hook up with a scanner and reset the maintenance required message and light on the dashboard. I asked if he was on site. He said yes. I said, OK what’s the problem? Just do it. He then told me they’d have to charge me $189 for the master technician’s time. I said, on a free oil change, not really free, because I already paid for it, you’re going to charge me $189 to turn off a f$&king dash light? He told me that’s policy because I waited longer than 12 months and the guy was really busy so I’d have to pay for his time.

I was so pissed off I told the guy verbatim, to bring me my f$&king car right now and I’ll figure it the f$&k out. About 10 minutes later they brought me my car and I drove it home. When I got home, I searched the Internet and found this thread and that you can reset the message even though it says it’s impossible, without Toyota’s scan tool. I already had an OBDlink CX scan tool and BimmerCode but according to this thread it said BimmerCode won’t do it, but if you get BimmerLink, it will reset “reports”. I downloaded the app and since BimmerLink would only cost me $39 one time to be able to reset any reports or codes, I bought the app and within five minutes I had the message and light reset. So I saved $150!! And I can reset anything that ever comes up for as long as I own the car.

I ended up calling the salesman that I bought all four of my new Toyotas from in the last three years and left him a message that I was not happy and was actually insulted that they wanted to charge me that much money to reset a light when I had no idea that if I went over 12 months that it wouldn’t be able to be reset normally. Stay tuned. He hasn’t called back yet.

I'm not reading that novel.

This isn't complicated - the maintenance reset must be done via a diag tool if the mileage is abnormally low (I do not know the exact threshold). Do not expect a Toyota dealership to know about this relative edge case.

Im currently in this phase.

2023, 7300 miles. Did 2 oil changes at 1200, 4200. I got the oil reset light come up, reset it with BimmerLink, light comes back as Impossible.

So every time I start my car I just get a brief notice of oil maintenance by 03/27 or 9000 miles and I can’t get rid of it through BimmerLink lol. I can live with it, it’s just a flash notice and disappears.

I am a bit confused; 03/27 is in the future so that sounds like BimmerLink correctly performed the reset. The transient maintenance reminder when you start the car is normal.
