I'm not forgetting this, but that point is irrelevant since it also affected the NSX pricing of the time. This is also evident in the LHD vs RHD values of the A80s in the present day..I think you are forgetting how the rising Yen & exchange rate played a factor into the MK4's pricing. It was cheaper in Japan, hence why Toyota sold like 3X as much of them overseas vs the US market. I don't think it was Toyota's plan to just sell so little of them in one of the largest car markets.
