Hey everyone,

By any chance, are there direct replacements available for the stock sound amplifier? Or adapters so we can connect aftermarket amplifiers?

Only replacement I know is to get the MOST25 signal and feed it to a Mobridge amp. Other options are available but this would be not be as direct as one simple box. I would personally look into OEM audio plus for a good quality and no thought system that increases output with a decent MATCH amp as well as powering a sub with a small Mono amp that works well too.

Maybe alpha one?
I don’t know anything about it though.

I would go Mobridge da1 then to an amp/dsp of your choice with a technic pnp harness. Our battery being in the trunk makes wiring extremely easy. 7 channels will cover all speakers like stock. All speakers have a physical crossover if there is a tweeter.

Just be mindful that dealer software updates should not occur unless you install an amp bypass or put the stock one back. Don’t go to dealerships anyways for the B58.

I swapped out the OEM amp for the Alpha One from BimmerTech and I love it. Simple plug-n-play swap and really clears up the sound quite a bit.

MOBRIDGE K2 DSP is a direct replacement. Huge difference but you need to tune it to hear/feel it. I can share my tuning file if you need it.

Do you mind expanding on that a little bit? Direct 1:1 swap-out for the cables, or did you get an adapter from Technic or somewhere else? Did you take advantage of the sub output? Any issues with super loud fake engine noises or gongs?

Just a heads up in case some did not know.... there is a difference in the hardware you can use with JBL (premium) and base audio (676) systems. Base audio does not use the MOST interface, just analog signals.

You have to code the fake engine noises out using the bimmercode iPhone amp and a Bluetooth OBD adaptor or preferably an usb c/lightning to Ethernet to OBD adaptor. When you order the Mobridge K2 from Mobridge you tell them you are using it in a Supra and they supply a custom harness that is similar to the technik PNP harness.

I did try using the subwoofer output with the JL subwoofer. It worked but I felt like the sub needed a little more than the 300 watts that the Mobridge amp was supplying. I think it was totally fine though.

The Mobridge DSP software lets you adjust how loud the signals from the gongs separately from navigation and music.

That’s a great tip. I would highly recommend using a Match UP DSP amp for a system with the base audio system. The match UP8 DSP worked great on my 2 series with the base audio (option 676).

I chose an Audison 8.14 DSP. Also replaced OEM speakers with morels (OEM 8" still). Night and day difference. After tuning it's pretty drastic. The 8" OEM midbass pounds with the extra power and tune. Next will be a sub with dedicated amp.

Also to follow up. The base 8" speakers are 2 ohm while the JBL premiums are 8 ohm.

Yes. So if you are using the OEM amp for the JBL system you should choose 8 ohm 8” woofers. The Mobridge K2 and Match UP8 DSP can both run 2 ohm 8” woofers so I chose the 2 ohm versions in the Supra and the X3.
