I've looked both at PPF and ceramic coating and on care for the paint as well. Full PPF would come to around £4000 I've been told and there are matte films you can get, but would undoubtably change the finish slightly from stock.

I'm going with Gyeon's matte ceramic coating to begin with anyways. Most of the horror stories I've seen are from the likes of tar, tree sap, bird droppings etc and ceramic helps all of that. The only thing would be stone chips which will be a nightmare to fix, or door dings which PPF probably wouldn't help much against. I'm hoping from the stone chip side of things since the car is from Magna Steyr the quality of the paint will be a lot more hardy than the 86 which gets hundreds of chips as soon as you're out the driveway...

Question - as I really don't know - but can you put a ceramic coating on a matt paintwork car?

I thought things like wax etc couldn't be applied, though this is my knowledge from back in the Frozen Silver M3 days which was a few years ago!

Going to look at doing PPF for the front end only - think its about £1500.

Yeah you can put ceramic coatings on, but I think the Gyeon one is the only one specifically formulated for that paint. Others will add some gloss but not sure how it would change the finish overall. Definitely avoid polish and wax etc though!

First post so here goes.
Toyota communication has been abysmal, unable to attend Thruxton event, but in last email relating to that event were promising further opportunities to experience the Supra, when? Main contact from dealer went on a freebee at Thruxton on the Wednesday, will be seeing him tomorrow for an update on vehicle, although appears as much in the dark as everyone.
Finance, back in January 2019 I am sure they were quoting 5.9% APR.
Insurance, I currently have 2 separate policies with DL for Aygo & GT86 both with max NCD and dual policy discount, thinking of starting a new policy with Aygo and transferring Supra on original until renewal next April.

Just noticed Toyota.co.uk have the following in Supra accessories Long Life Body Protector from £167.06?

Just seen the residuals on the toyota website - far lower than i was told. Was told they would be circa £35k, but showing £29k - at that it becomes unfeasible for me, and makes me wonder why it isnt higher.

Could be back to the M2 or Cayman!

I was told £31,860 for A90 Edition at 36 months and the dealer said he was surprised that it was so good! I said I was surprised it wasn't higher as I'd heard around £35k like you had. He didn't have anything to come back with after that!

I think they are taking it from the GT86 where I think the initial residuals they have were too high compared to where it actually was, so maybe underestimating the Supra now.

Think they may end up with a few cancelled orders .... 55% residual after 3 yrs isnt that good!

It’s a brand new car so to be fair they are kinda guessing the residual. I bought my GT86 in 2013. My final payment and residual value was £11,000 after 3 years. It’s now 6 years old and is still worth £11,000 private being that I’ve only put 33,000 miles on it.

With £5k down, its coming in at £740 a month roughly.

M2 with £5k down is £463 a month - both over 4 yrs.

Really cant just justify £300 a month for 4 yrs!

Thanks for the heads-up about the Toyota website having the finance calculator on (wonder why Toyota didn't email me that information, but hey...).

As far as I can see on their website, the longest term is 42 months which is 3.5 years, rather than 4 years. So if it's £740 x 42 compared to £463 x 48, that might mitigate the gap slightly. (not entirely though!).

Kinda feel like it would be reasonable for Toyota to offer five year finance - in my head, finance term as long as warranty term seems reasonable (!). Might help the affordability a bit, if they're not going to offer the car more cheaply.

Got a guy from Stephen Eagell calling me - bought an aygo for the company from him and stayed in touch and far better service than my local dealer - he said he would run some numbers for me.

APR is too high - BMW standard APR is 4.9% and 42 months is a totally bizarre number. Add on the pretty poor 3 yr residuals and starting to think supra might not be on my drive! Any decent car should be keeping 60% value after 3 yrs minimum.

I got a letter from Toyota this morning.

"As one of the first 300 customers to reserve the All New Toyota GR Supra in the UK we have enclosed an exclusive Autocar feature which includes a deep-dive review into the All New Toyota GR Supra. See how the Toyota Supra fared against its closest rivals: the Porsche 718 Cayman and BMW M2 Competition.

The Autocar team headed to the mountainous roads of South Wales to put Supra through its paces, testing everything from looks to brawn, and handling round tight bends to punching power on the straights. Inspired by over 50 years of rich heritage, the All New Toyota GR Supra delivers our purest experience yet.

We all know you can't wait to get behind the wheel of your own Supra, so to find out more information about how you can test drive, delivery dates and finance options, please contact your Supra Champion at your Toyota Centre."

It includes a 5 page review of all 3 cars. The opinion is that the Supra is the best of the 3 cars.

They need to stop with the Supra champion bollocks and just provide some bloody information as they are doing all the orders centrally!

Supra champion called me once, told me he was going on holiday and that's the last I heard of him 3 weeks ago.

Ha ha, mine goes on paternity leave in the last week of August, so I won't even meet him unless the car is not delivered until mid September.
