Based off what I'm reading here it seems like you can cycle the ABS pump just by turning the car on & off and by triggering ABS.

I'm currently having this issue. I've triggered ABS maybe 10-15 times (purposefully) and started the car 30 -40 times since I started having a spongey brake....

Not sure if anyone can really answer this but is this enough to completely cycle the ABS pump of air? I'm ready to do another bleed but worried that there still may be residual air in the pump.

Want to try this one more time before trying the ISTA crap
Update on this, took my car to a shop just so I could be 100% sure it was bled correctly (couldn't find anyone to do ISTA in SoCal).

Pedal after shop bleed is at 95% of what it was stock. Seems like it does work to just purposely trigger ABS and turn car on and off. Shop said they got a bunch of air out and I know when I did the first initial bleed there were no air bubbles.

Going to try and drive the car naturally now and attempt another bleed in a couple months to see if I can get to 100%

Also unrelated but Robert from Chewerks is a super cool and chill guy. He did great work for me doing camber plates and this brake bleed. Def recommend if you are in Socal

I must be the only one that bleeds the brake by myself without a power bleeder, laptop, or special tools... lol

No I am not just not handy at all and let the reservoir run dry like a dummy... ?
That would definitely get more air in than intended ?

Digging this thread up in hopes someone can possibly help me. I have a 2020 Supra that I purchased a couple months ago. I immediately ordered pads, rotors and fluids to try and get some track days in this season. I've been using a motive power bleeder for several years with success on several different platforms, BMW's included. Anywho, I did the flush with Castrol SRF as I normally do. I first used a turkey baster to get as much fluid out of the reservoir as possible. It was still easily half full, probably about the min line. I then filled the bottle, pumped it up, and went corner to corner until fluid ran clear. To get to the point, the pedal didn't feel right to me afterwards. Seemed to be a dead zone before getting a good pedal. I went ahead and bed in the pads anyways. Car stops fine. Engaged ABS multiple times and rebled, same. Repeated again, same. Put the old pads and rotors on, same.
This morning I got techstream and ISTA up and running (what a PIA) but finally got everything connected and initiated the DSC brake bleed procedure. Successfully made it through that to no avail. Pedal feels the same. At this point I'm questioning my sanity on whether there is even anything wrong or not. Looking for advice or experience on what to do!

Try bleeding it old school way. Shouldn’t need anything special to bleed this car lol

Yeah, I did that! Multiple times. With and without the power bleeder. The ISTA procedure finishes up with a bleed "the old school way" after actuating the DSC module several times while pressing the pedal over and over. I'm at a loss.

Try keeping the fluid level above the max line the whole process and after the bleed procedure adjust the level back down with turkey baster

You might just be feeling the shit pedal feel of the brakes on this car. It's kinda terrible. The master cylinder brace helps a bit.

It's very possible. I honestly don't know how I could have gotten air in this thing. As I said before, this aint my first rodeo. I've been doing this for years across several different cars. As thorough as the ISTA procedure is, if that didn't make it any better, it may be as good as it gets. I just need some reassurance I guess.

Are you talking about the initial sponginess until the pedal becomes hard (giggity)?

Yes, exactly. And hard is a bit subjective. It firms up for sure and the car stops with little effort. It just doesn't "feel" right to me, and feels different than the stock pads\rotors did. If it makes any difference, I'm using rock auto rotors. ;)

Thanks for corroborating. I casually loathe the brake feel on this car, and a BBK didn't do much to change that. The bite is great, but the pedal travel still sucks just like the day I got it: nothing, nothing, nothing, BRAKE.

I alternate weekends with the Supra and a Genesis Coupe to make sure they both get driven, and the Hyundai absolutely embarrasses the Supra in the brake feel. Was wondering if it was just me.
