Hey guys!

I am approaching the 1200 miles mark very soon and I thought to ask if people are supposed to change their oil then. Called my dealership and they said Toyota care covers oil changes at 10,000 miles which I think is a joke. They also mentioned that they have no break in service for the supras and they say its fine for 10,000 miles which is hard to believe haha.

Also I know the forum discussions about type of oil is a long one... never understood why if someone can explain.

What do yall recommend for those who had to deal with a break in period?

(Also reason why I'm asking because my friend with an M2 had a whole service check at 1200 miles)

I did my first change at 2k. It is fine, I wouldn't wait the 10k ever. 5k max, especially if tuned or planning on it.

The first rule of Supra ownership… never take your Supra to a Toyota service center.

The second rule of Supra ownership… NEVER take your Supra to a Toyota service center.

Is it really that bad? I live in central Jersey for reference. (Are you saying to not take the free oil changes around 10k mile mark? (Even if I change it before then))
Would you then suggest taking it to BMW Service?

If you cant change your own oil, take it to a 3rd party european mechanic. Never go to any dealer for service. They will treat your car like shit.

I had Toyota change the oil on my Supra at around 2.5K miles. They marked it as the 10K service in their system. They don’t care when exactly you get the 2 free oil changes.

No real facts or actual data. Just follow what makes you happy lol. But i did the 1200 break in service by myself. And yea don’t take it to the dealer they might not even have the oil or filter in stock.

The only reason to avoid the dealer for an oil change is inconvenience. If you can screw the lid back on a two litre bottle of Coke you can change oil in this car. It’s that easy. I’ve never understood why so many people think Toyota mechanics can’t do it.

I do my own maintenance simply because I have to tools and can do it so much more quickly and conveniently. I just have no interest in burning up an entire morning or afternoon (or more) at a dealer when I can do it myself in 30 minutes (including setting up and putting away the Quick Jacks).

10 years ago I took my GTI in for its first "not free" oil change. Charged me $250. I have never let anyone change my oil since then.

Spent that 250 instead on nice race ramps and can knock out oil changes in <30 min for $70.

I was actually thinking about getting quickjacks but its definitely pricey. I did some research and at one point QuickJack would sell their products for a huge difference (I read somewhere Costco was selling 5000tl model for like 900) from how much they are charging now. Wish I made the purchase before honestly... but it is what it is haha.

If anyone knows the best place to buy QuickJacks please do let me know as I also ordered the oil kit from FCP EURO to do it myself.

Honestly gonna switch the downpipe and exhaust myself at this rate if I just buy the QuickJacks.

Also that kit I just bought I realized that they switched out the filter....

I looked at the reviews and saw this:

Is UFI really that bad? Should I just order another filter?

Unfortunately to get quickjacks around $1k your only bet is FB marketplace. They sell quick though when they do pop up around that price. Took me about 6 months of stalking FB before I got mine for $1k, well worth it though.
