I passed up 3 or 4 Supras because of the whale tail and Street Hunter wings. When you buy stock, it's generally accepted that the car is well... stock.

But at the same time it's difficult to own a car for resale or investment value. It takes about a 30 year wait before a car that will be a "classic" becomes a classic and sale value is high.

if you care about resale value, don't drive it.

You bought a bmw/toyota lol not a porsche/lambo/ferrari

I’ve got a 2022 Supra A91-CF, bone stock with the OEM duckbill, etc. Thinking about swapping to a Street Hunter spoiler and maybe adding a carbon fiber hood/roof.

I want to keep resale value high. I’d save all OEM parts, but will mods like these still turn off buyers or drop the price? Should I keep it stock, do light reversible cosmetic mods, or go mild performance?
Just so you are aware the factory duckbill is bolted on so if you go for a wing that does not work with the factory duckbill you will need to patch holes and doe body work

From what I've read you prioritize your resell value so just leave it stock and don't drive it, no point in wasting time and money putting mods on that you'll have to store around and put back on when you sell the car. Never really got the idea of getting a car to save it for the next owner and our cars aren't at a point where there an investment. That's my 2 cents on it, I personally have a cf edition and have gone full send on it, plan on driving the wheels off it so resell value isn't a priority for me.

Cosmetic mods are a no go for resale, but I think something like an unlock+tune won't hurt you since the average buyer wants those features. Its not a "subjective" mod.

exhaust would be subjective, as would suspension, wheels, etc.

I’ve been eyeing a new 2026 MT and the dealer wants my car since it’s 100% stock (excluding spacers, etc). They offered 45K for a 2021 with 38K miles (dealership trade = less tax). Not sure if this helps or not.

I replaced the rear diffuser on my a91-cf with the adro one, mostly because I got rear ended and it was damaged but eh. At least everything is CF now?

Ha, everyone's "laid back" about resale value until it comes time to sell or trade that is, lol. Laid back about resale value then bitch and moan about every cent over RR they have to pay for the latest and greatest must have dream machine that's just come out. Bottom line to the OP is if you leave it stock or substantially stock by restricting your mods to simple and reversable things like wheel spacers, maybe a stick on duck tail, shift knob, steering wheel, wheels etc then the cars going to be worth more when it comes time to sell or trade. To a dealer and a private buyer the car has less question marks over it technically so therefore less risk to the buyer or dealer. Some people don't care and that's fine of course but significant mods will lower the resale value 99% of the time.

Red flag to a buyer. Aftermarket CF diffuser without the undamaged original as part of the deal equals probable/possible accident damage. Walk away.

While yes, this (and many other things) can be red flags, I just don't think there are enough cars for people to be that picky. If you missed the boat in Australia and want a good example, you're going to have to take what you can and luckily for us, pay what is asked.

I think the whole thing is a losing proposition anyway. If you bought a car to resell it, you've entirely missed the point.

Well you don't always need to argue the extreme. Minimising the depreciation is a sensible position to take esp when you look at the quality of some aftermarket stuff out there. There is room for a proportional response and that's what I'm alluding to in my previous posts. Lets face it in 5 years time 90% of the people here will have moved on to another platform anyway so one eye on the resale value and keeping the mod list to reversable and modest things makes sense. It's not always about the resale value in dollars anyway, part of it is how easy it is to sell the car when the time comes. Immaculate and stock sells a lot easier than modded to the hilt believe me.
Currently there are 38 used Supra A90's for sale here in Australia. Seems plenty of choice to me.

Thanks for the advice I'll walk away from my own car.
