It definitely rev matches on upshifts with gear shift assistant on, what I've found though is that you have to slow down your shifting for it to even come into play because the revs don't fall fast enough with how I normally drive.

Try upshifting from 2nd at like 3500 rpms. Keep the clutch in and move the selector to 3rd. The revs will fall to about 2500 and then hold for about a second, then continue falling. If you let the clutch out when its holding it will mesh seamlessly and you don't even have to give it gas. I'm honestly not sure why people don't use it for the jerky 1-2 shift that everyone complains about so much.
Because like you said it falls too slow with stock flywheel during the 1-2. Ain’t no one got time for that /s.

So you heel and toe every shift?
Where needed ..and it's not THAT difficult to learn if you're committed. It's the ball of your right foot on the brake pedal and the side of foot for throttle. I don't literally swing my heel around unless I need to mash the brake real hard which is usually unnecessary on the streets.

Plus hill start I find myself holding the brake and blipping the throttle to move forward (normally) at an incline (same with going reverse out of parking spots while on decline). It just becomes second nature after a while. Even at stop signs I just brake and have my foot partially covering the throttle while rolling to a stop so that I can immediately blip and start moving again. And it's not like I'm racing or anything like that... it's just a part of proper MT driving.

Like the other guy said, having to wait to let out the clutch when going into second is just too much time. When I do this with someone behind me they’re almost always kissing my bumper and it’s just a risk not worth taking in order to have that seamless shift

I haven't had this experience but I'll try what you have suggested. Having said this, it doesn't sound like rev matching at all, but more like some kind of nanny for those that can't up-shift at a normal rate. Why on earth would I want to slow down my shifting? ?‍♂

What do you mean? I find it works flawlessly on downshifts.
It just didnt work for me a few times, when i downshifted from third to second for turns.

Interesting. I'll keep an eye out but I haven't had a single downshift missed.. that I have noticed, at least. And I'm still at a loss as to the rev matching on upshift since it has been suggested that it only works at a much slower gear shift than a regular run of the mill manual upshift.. which would make it all but useless.

So I tried to invoke the "rev-matching on upshift" and well.. no offense, but if you are experiencing this feature or heaven forbid, using/relying on it, you are simply not driving a manual properly.

Are you lot for real?

EDIT: For clarity, I managed to get the rev-match on upshift function to work but it is so slow that I question how anyone could be using it on their regular commute, let alone when driving with intent. How anyone could be shifting a manual this slowly is beyond me! I'm not a racecar driver and moreover, I can often shift pretty lazily but after 10,000km have not experienced this even once!

Honestly, if you are taking over a second to make a gear change you are in desperate need of an automatic transmission. I hear the ZF8 is the tits.

Realize this is an old thread but also wanted to prevent the 'did you even search' response....
Is this the clutch delay valve getting in the way the rev matching?

I have another car (higher redline I4) with an ECUTek tune that implements rev matching and frankly the Supra's always seems late comparatively. I thought it may be the clutch delay valve. One thing I do like about the ECUTek logic is that its only in play above ~40MPH, so coming to a red light its not triggered, where the Supra seems to do it at any speed.

I have had the CDV removed. Others may disagree but it made no real difference in my experience.
