I've had my jeans catch in this same spot a few times on my car. There are a couple of rubs in this exact same spot but not enough to get bent out of shape over. It looks entirely like "wear and tear" and could happen after just 1 time. I park in my garage and can only open my door slightly, so it's a bit of contortion to get in and out without hitting another vehicle or wall with the door, so I'm concious of it and I try to be careful, but it's going to happen as I'd rather save my exterior from dings and scratches.

Latest update on the seats. Wiped them with water and a microfiber cloth and this is how bad they look. Doesn't matter how I get in and out of the car, the protectant on the leather failed.

Southeast Toyota finance refuses to replace them. AutoNation Toyota Pinellas Park in Florida has refused to replace them. Corporate has been nothing but a complete waste, talking to them will cause brain rot and lack of hope for civilization..

First and only Toyota I'll ever have.

How many miles on the car?

I had a Mitsubishi GSX AWD turbo. Leather but what junk it was. They use a coating over the leather so it looks uniform but often, as you can see, it doesn't hold up well to this type of use. Better to have a material that is really designed for the day in, day out use of a car seat. The coating tends wot wear off. Sometimes way too easily.

Well, that really sucks. How long have you had the car?

I can relate! Toyota Australia is the same. Toyota Australia mount this god awful front plate mount before it hits the dealer and it took no less than 20 phone calls and the threat of violence before anyone pretended to care and ensure my car didn't arrive this way. They're all fucking useless.

First and only Toyota I'll ever have.
Also, it's not just Toyota. All car companies are pretty much the same. Dealers and Marques. Some slightly better; some slightly worse.

Did you try contacting Toyota in Japan?
Unfortunately, these large companies don't give two shits. If the local Toyota dealers thought Toyota Corporate cared, they'd act differently. This goes all the way up the chain.. If Toyota Japan cared, Toyota <insert country of choice> would also do better.

I'm actually amazed people think these companies give a shit about their customers. It's all about money and shareholder value. Never mind all this PR bullshit: Gazoo Racing; Morizo; We make cars for enthusiasts; No boring cars.. it's all bullshit and the sooner people wake up to it, the better they will be.

It's always just about making money. Nothing more; Nothing less.

This is not a Toyota only problem. It does suck that the dealership and corporate punted you. Its not a total loss just get nice high quality leather covers and move on.

Would you be able to have a local upholstery place (or even a local artist with an airbrush) paint that section for you? It's really just painted leather, so I'd probably go that route and charge the dealer if dealer is unwilling to help... or just get new covers as Loco38SUP mentioned.

I'm not sure that the dealership would reimbursement me at this point. I don't have any good relationships with the locale Toyota dealships after this whole ordeal. I'll make an appt with a local leather shop and see if they can fix it and protect it going forward.
