What did you do to your Supra today?

It is indeed only for those. Of course, some Supras do have B48's.

It was announced a few months back, dealers seem to finally have replacement parts now and can do the work. Theoretically you park outside until then. I think they replace the starter itself. What a PITA to do to a huge number of cars out there.

Close friend of mine is a master tech at Toyota and said he's done the starter recall on a 2022 3.0 Supra which surprised me. I told him it was just the B48 and he said nope. But it was 2022 and earlier. Odd. Worth a call or check on your VIN maybe.

Indeed you are right. Seems very few B58's, but there are some. '20-'22 for Supra would be worth checking on.

This is what he said. 20-22 only. I asked them what they changed and he shrugged lol. Is the starter a different part number from say a 21 vs a 24?

Thanks guys. I checked my VIN and the only recalls shown are the brake diaphragm exploding upon startup one and the stupid headlight adjuster plug.

So my car has not done the first recall (2nd one I already checked and it was fine on mine) as I defeated auto engine start/stop via Bimmercode and always keep my foot planted on the brake pedal well beyond 2-3 sec after starting the engine.

That said, in 2026 I hear people can unlock ECU's like $5 locker room pad locks. Would it benefit me to get the recall done to get the larger CarPlay screen? Or still pretend this pre-flashed car is worth more than a post-flashed car..?

I think you are conflating post June 2020 unlocks with pre June 2020.

I love when you state dumb wrong things, then when someone corrects you with facts, you still think the other person is the dumb one. I'm sure you will double down on that in your reply.

What are you logging with? Your sample rate still looks crap, unless this is like a 1st or 2nd gear pull?

EDIT: After looking at the actual log, doesn't look so bad.

4th gear! Got rid of a lot of parameters too. Yep just need to work on the more dynamic boost stuff, partial throttle, shifting, etc. Then I'll start turning it up.

Make sure you log TPS too so you can see if the throttle is closing.

It's good practice to let the PID raise WGDC to meet target boost instead of reducing WGDC to meet target boost. So leave a little buffer. Just know that WGDC for a given boost target will fluctuate in cooler and warmer ambient temps. So make sure your PID tables have enough headroom for when things get warmer.

My question was in 2026 whether having the pre-recall ECU was still worth anything considering it appears people can get the ECU's unlocked. Based on your smartarse response, I suppose the answer is no.

So what does one need to do? Remove the ECU to send it in somewhere to get this done? That's a pita, no?

So the posts that were saying post-recall (for brake diaphragm) locked their ECU.. what was that about? Were they just confusing the above? I'm just going by what others posted.. as I am with your post.
