Toyota FT-1 concept & A90 Supra design dissected

Do you care if the next Supra has a "corporate image?"

  • No, as long as it looks good, I don't care if the rest of Toyota's line up is designed around it.

  • Yes, the Supra should be completely unique looking even among Toyota's fleet.

I don't think it looks that bad in this LC base rendering. I know a lot of Supra owners are wanting the circular taillights. Personally I don't care either way, I just hope the final design looks good.

it looks bad mainly when they mix angular & round shapes....that particular render is very difficult to to pick out the little details, and the housing isn't even shaped exactly like the LC's so it isn't the best example...but with the FT1's angular taillights, it looks very awkward to put circles inside of it...the MK4's taillights looked good because the circular lights matched the round housing that contained them.

Retro styling has been very overdone by manufacturers and is lazy. While the MK2 and MK3 share the most in common of the successive generations I like the fact that they all look different.

A new clean design and an opportunity to for something new and iconic. The MK4 took chances in the design, chances that paid off in the long run. I have the original articles where the same elements discussed here were viewed as controversial for the time. I don't really care if people recognize the car which is not to say I don't want it to be a great looking car. From what I have seen so far all the major design elements are in place for car with great road presence.

^ I agree the MKIV tail lights are iconic and still are for a car from its era. But we got a glimpse at something new and futuristic with the FT-1 tail lights which so far I have yet to see anyone dislike them, so they can also be just as iconic for the new car in this era.

So far the mule reminds me more of the FT-HS' nose.

I have always thought the headlights on the concept were a little odd looking. However I don't mind on the one posted above from the GT6 trailer.

The ones on the concept are just for show. I wouldn't hold my breath lens free production headlights.

^It didn't turn out that good in this rendering.

Im pretty positive the ''Supra'' will turn out looking almost like this rendering.
Its seems very close to what we've seen being tested (minus the bolt on panels) and it looks the most likley to be production ready.
Not to mention the front end looks way more plausible.

I dig this one
