Wondering if anyone has successfully deleted the EVAP charcoal canister? I removed mine over the winter and put an air filter on the tank vent line. The weird thing is this year I'm now getting fuel starve with a full tank just cruising around a right hand turn. Everything works fine in a straight line or left hand turns.

I'm thinking the evap system/tank pressure affects the transure jet pump, but I would have also thought that a completely full tank it would still be impossible to starve.

Any input appreciated 🙏🏼

I just deleted mine after my Dyno session with Shoup. I put filter at base of firewall. My recent street log was exact same as when I had evap system and was on Dyno. Next Shoup revision will code sensors.my log did also include a long sweeping exit ramp, because I forgot to end log, I took at 70mph, 1/4 throttle on 3/4 tank of gas.

Thanks. Sounds my problem might not be from evap. Maybe this is just coincident timing and the problem is something else. Probably time to pull the LPFP

So I eliminated all lines took the small charcoal canister that I circled put a filter on one end, my reasoning was maybe that canister would eliminate a little bit of the fuel odor, and plugged the other end of the canister into the evaporator hose at the base of the firewall. If I do remember correctly, I did heat up one of the hoses and take the fitting off it to put on the canister, so it directly plugged into the one at the base of the firewall. Might be confusing, but that’s the best I could explain it.
I originally kept the two sensors plugged in but eventually threw two codes. I’ve since just unplugged the sensors and now I get a single fuel tank Code. Codes never seemed to affect performance.

Ahh I see. I believe that line goes back to the charcoal cannister behind the rear passenger side wheel, so your cannister is venting to atmosphere instead of to the intake. Assuming you left the cannister in with that evap line and tank vent still connect to the charcoal cannister? If I understand correctly, you put the small cannister where I've drawn the red line, everything to the left of it has stayed OEM.

There's a valve on the cannister that controls tank pressure (which I removed), so maybe that's why you don't have problems but I do.

That thing you circled is not the charcoal canister. Its a diaphragm that smooths out the flow of fuel vapors.

Here is a diagram of the charcoal canister connections

Stating the obvious perhaps, there are kits for this, if you dont' get one maybe at least see how they work to imitate. Kern also has a video on one I believe for his B58 340i that might be worth finding.

Yes I believe what most people are talking about (and these kits) are regarding the evap lines and valves that are very obvious (ugly)in the engine bay. The part I'm talking about is the charcoal cannister behind the right rear wheel (see pic above from i3igpete)

I thought it might be some sort of charcoal canister. Guess I was wrong. 🤣🤣. That’s the only thing different than what’s in Kerns video. I’ve touched nothing from firewall back.

I didn't have issues except for the EVAP CEL that I had removed. No issues with fuel starvation. I've done two track events since doing the delete.

What do you achieve by doing this?

Yeah, I was just thinking that once those were disconnected and set up properly (and probably with CEL's coded out), that removing the cannister itself would be trivial. But perhaps not, and if not then my apologies.

Was trying to think how the 2 things (this and fuel cuts) were related but it doesn't seem likely. CEL's would usually just be an annoyance but not lead to that. Could be a coincidence. But on that note, check for codes? Kind of always step 1 for any issue.
