Hey guys I have a couple of questions regarding my tuning on map 4. I am manual and have a catless downpipe. I set the duty bias to the values given in the first post and my ff is set to 15. There’s not to many throttle closures and timing looks good. But I noticed that I’m not hitting target boost for map 4 is it because my duty bias values are too low and my ff value is too low? I fear if I raise those values throttle closures will come back but I could be wrong. Here are my data logs for map 4 in e30.

Don't expect to hit boost target, think of it more like a boost limit. It will usually be a bit lower. Log looks fine, maybe a tiny bit more ethanol. FF is fine

Hey I figured out why my boost target was low, my failsafe was set to like 23. I also did some runs on 4 gallons of e85 to full tank of 92. On map 3 and map 5. I began to mess with IAT spoofing to run better timing since I’m On e is it safe for the car? Like if it were to start detonating/knocking will the jb4 and/or DME pull timing anyways to save the motor from damage? I spoofed it to 85 but the actual temp was probably 100 to 105. Also I read something about that addative maps are better at adjusting to the iat compared to the absolute targets, I’ve noticed that when switching in between the maps, I am also an MT so that probably matters too. The car felt really good after touching the IAT spoofing so I just want to know if it’s safe or not and also if my logs look okay.

Just got the car out of winter storage, everything runs fine but I have a question. In the basic settings of the JB4 app, is the “Shift Boost Red” a new feature?? I don’t remember seeing that before storing the car last November.

The current value displayed when connected with the car is 60. Anyone played with this? Thx as always guys!

Its been around. If you are overboosting or have big throttle closure on the shift, try raising it. (To 70 or 80)

If you are dropping a lot of boost on the shift, try lowering it. (40 or 20, etc)

Really anywhere 0-80 is fine to adjust and test.

Just installed the new JB4PRO unit and took my first drive on map 1. Only a couple really clean runs in here. Had VSC on since it rained off and on during the drive. All runs were in 3rd gear and sport mode (not sport+).

2023 6MT
JB4PRO X58 P358_V6 firmware
Includes EWG and fuel pressure sensors

AMS catted downpipe
Dinan intake
Dinan catback

Sunoco “94” fuel

Would love some feedback on being good to run map 2 and to get started on a map 6 setup!

adjusted a couple things in basic settings after spending some more time with the first post here. Can’t figure out how to get this to stop grouping logs, but the very last run in this one I think is the cleanest…

Settings:
Enabled ECU CANbus connection
Boost safety 23
PID Gain 20
Shift Boost Red 0
FF/WG Adp 20
Fuel Open Loop 60

Not trying to spam the thread but did my best to DIY over the past week and gave map 6 a try.

I’ve had a lot of trouble with the app not saving settings and reverting back to defaults. I’m running the latest version of the jb4pro app. Issues are mainly boost safety not saving below 24 psi, and my changes taking multiple rounds of edit and save for them to stick.

For Map 6 I got my best runs in yesterday but realized when I got home that FF/WG Adp was at 50 (I think the app reverted to default after I loaded the duty bias settings). I set it to 21 this morning and got some more runs in, but no full 40-90 pulls. I did have some throttle trimming in one of the runs this morning so maybe something can learned from that?

going to keep running with these settings for a bit but would love some some feedback to dial it in.

here’s the run from this AM with the throttle closure during the second 3rd gear run:

Here are the runs from yesterday when I unfortunately had FF/WG at 50… a lot of much harder full pulls here but had throttle closure midway in several runs. Assume that’s related to the FF setting.

Sadly a lot of people have jumped ship to unlock+MHD/BM3 because state-side unlocks are a thing and are so cheap that JB4 barely makes sense anymore.

If you're serious about running JB4 long term and unlocking is out of the question, I highly recommend just buying a Jesse tune. Better than spending a ton of time self-tuning unless you enjoy it tbh. It's pricey given how cheap unlocks are now though.

I'll do my best

You should be running P158 firmware for gen2 b58.
I run V34 to help with the EWG fault codes

For manuals we want to "under boost" so I run my PID at 0

FF is per map
With 94 I'd try this on Map 2. Look at timing to double check if its good gas.
(v34 timing will reflect corrections. i.e. if it says 3 that's 3 degrees of correction)

Boost safety 23
PID Gain 20
Shift Boost Red 0
FF/WG Adp 20
Fuel Open Loop 60

FF is general curve, adjusting duty cycle is fine tuning the curve.

Lower FF where there are large throttle closures
Lower FF where torque higher than 47

I hope this helps
