What's the difference between bolt standard and bolt diff cooler? Thanks!
The 3-bolt version has been discontinued.

It was originally intended for those with an external differential cooler. In other words, return/feed lines leading to a pump and heat exchanger.

Otherwise they are functionally the same.

I am looking for a color that blends in with the rest of the car does not pop during the annual inspection.

Do I choose black or grey?

Thanks

Grey most likely.

Something to note, it takes all of 15 mins to install/remove. Hardest part is fishing out the subframe insert. So you can always just remove it prior to your inspection. Just need to get the rear up on some ramps at the very least.

I got black and painted it black. I used a spray paint to paint just the half with the logo

ETA: I only put 3 coats, but if you put a few more coats of paint I think you could make it disappear completely so it looks stock. Another option I was contemplating was to sand off the coating so it looks like raw aluminum.

Wow, it's not that bad. No one will see it anyways. I'd peel off a sticker, but 3 coats of paint for it to still be visible?

We all have our preferences, I guess.

The logo is laser etched into it, its not a sticker. Meaning it is burned into the surface of the aluminum eating away at the anodized layer. Painting won't really cover it up unless you go really heavy and basically fill it in... but that would be a lot of paint. Probably better to sand it down (or sand blast) then paint...

I know, I have one. I'm saying *if* it were a sticker, I'd have peeled it off. Given how embedded it is, and that 3 coats of paint later it still shows, means it wasn't worth the work put in (which is why I haven't put the work in). Sorry I wasn't clear.

Thanks. This should help a lot.

The issue here is that we have an annual inspection of vehicles and anything they don't understand is an issue. Anything they don't understand and is aftermarket is a bigger issue. Anything they don't understand, is aftermarket and is touching the subframe/chassis is the mother of all issues. Sometimes they even object to OEM components. Like the new brace near the differential on the FE models.

I don't have anything against the logo. But I would prefer it if I could avoid the annual "take off and put on" ritual.

If they take a quick glance I think painting it should be fine.

If they’re very meticulous or you want to be sure they don’t catch it, I’d probably sand off the coating.
