I've have/had all three.

MKIV- Helluva car but i found myself rarely driving it because I always had it locked down. Also some weird fear of somebody randomly smacking it then game over. Great smooth car, ton of looks, and resell value is excellent.

GTR- Gun to my head and I have to pick one for everyday, it would be this. More "practical" since its AWD (I deal with all the season), pretty great size trunk, and semi usable back seats. low speed driving it is clunky and the suspension isn't so great. Also it slaughters gas the same way it slaughters the pavement. The boost is addicting.

MKV- I choose this car close to every chance i can get. Its a new platform so its exciting in ever aspect. GTR and MKIV platforms have been explored to every last crevice so tuning exploration dull. City driving is great as the car is super responsive acceleration and braking. Cornering is a blast. Exhaust note stock for stock on the rest is great. Gets more attention that the GTR and slightly more than a MKIV. Infotainment is better than all of them. And Solid on fuel economy.

Issues with MKV- Not much trunk space and not even some rear seats to use just in case. Wind noise kills me (I drive with the windows down when its nice). When powerful cars run into on the hwy they will smoke you in open road (A trackhawk, M5, and CL63 decided to crush my spirits one day lmfao)

Performance for dollar- Nothing will beat the GTR (Maybe the new vette will be better)

The question to ask yourself when deciding: Which car is best for you? Not which is the better car because GTR will win most of the time against anything.

Thank you for this! I agree, the right car is the one that makes you feel good driving it. Any experience with 911's?

Quit playing and get a 6 speed 911.
Or a Cayman. If you really have the funds get a REALLY low mileage 981 Cayman S or GTS. The 987 has some small niggles in terms of reliability but it's not bad, and I really dislike the 982. 981 is honestly the way to go.

All of them will make you feel awesome. GTR check engine lights might give you heart attacks because its says "ENGINE MALFUNCTION PLEASE VISIT DEALER" and your stomach turns inside out

911s i semi do. Reason why those are tough is because of million and one specs they offer. Bare bone base model is nice but you will bet bored of it. I see you are looking at a 997..yeah id say bounce pass on it. I was playing with a 991 GT3. Such smooth power and the handling on that thing is pure joy. Revving it to that 9k rpm is actually quiet an experience. That car manual is a winner 100%. PDK is great but something not worth giving up the GTR for yet. GTR pins you and you just smile. You can call me nuts, but the MK5 reminds me of that GT3 in terms of power delivery and handling.

a Turbo 991 is *chef kiss* as the interior materials craps on the GTR (kind of an obvious point). The infotainment system lacks though. The newest 911 finally addressed that.

Ultimately a 911 will only make sense if you go 991 GT3 or Turbo. The experience is okay on the rest.

I feel like you and I are the same (Might be a strong assumption, but based on your previous comments and thoughts I get your POV). I chuckled at your view on MKIV owners because I know exactly what you are referring to.

MKIV prices now are just ludicrous and honestly aren't worth it at all unless you get a dirty cheap one to build.

I see people recommending the Caymen and they are good, but on the road and at car shows ppl ignore them. No idea if you are a person who like "attention" and would be will to handle all of the random ppl talking to you. One of the most enjoyable thing about the MKV is converting ppl who hated the MKV to actually liking them.

Trust you will not regret spending money on either or at the end of the day

I have had mkiv, and 997 turbo

Currently own mkv and gtr...
For a daily for sure I would pick a mkv, unless is a longer drive, if you are tall, you have to check if you are comfy in the mkv.
For pure speed you can't beat the gtr, huge aftermarket support, and honestly they are super reliable cars, and if something fails, there are better parts in the aftermarket for it, and things are documented.
I would say that a modified mkv with downpipe, and tune, everything else stock, is about as fast as stock gtr in the 1/4 mile.

911 are superb cars, but they all look the same.

I bought my gtr to keep for a few years, bought it brand new, I still have it 5 years later, it's just that fast, by now I am on 9s with a stock engine, and trans...clunky at slow speeds, it sure is. But for a sports car, it's a beauty...

I know a lot of people that bought cba gtrs, and sold them 2 or 3 years later, only to come back because nothing else could be made as fast...

If your goal is to break track records, I don't think either Supra can, in stock form, match GTR's down force, handling and software gizmos. Is it outdated, somewhat, but still holds it Godzilla capability and looks. Slightly harder to power slide.

MKIV, you'll either buy tuned/modified or do it yourself to make it track capable and fun. Only MT option. Outdated inside. Timeless design. You can play around for sure, but your marriage may take a hit  do you like turbo lag?

MKV, to be fair you're in a MKV forum. Chances are, as you also stated, you're leaning towards it. Brand new, few good tuning options, many more to come. Lots of potential. Less muscular looks out of the box vs GTR, but sexy styling. No rear seat.
As you're open to used and new: M2, Porsches, R8, F-Type, etc.
My 2 cents to confuse you more. Lol

My choice was clear, but a gamble. For you it's not a gamble. Test drive gtr/mkv...
Traded in my stage 2 m2 for the supra, Supra stage 2 is much quicker but my m2 was manual, and manual is more fun and engaging.

The R35 is a beast, I have no doubt about this. Every single R35 I have ever driven, has put a big smile on my face....every single one. It's no surprise the fastest guys at 2K events are running GTR's. I have put an offer on a used R35, two MKV's, and one MKIV.

Traded in my stage 2 m2 for the supra, Supra stage 2 is much quicker but my m2 was manual, and manual is more fun and engaging.
I agree...thereā€™s no doubt the new auto cars are much faster than manual cars, but the overall driving pleasure is second to none in a manual car. Iā€™ve come to accept that manual cars are almost all but gone....itā€™s why the MKV and R35 are on my list.

Also (just throwing this out there), I know the MKIVā€™s 6spd is great, but I personally have yet to come across a used example that doesnā€™t have a ā€œcrunchyā€ Getrag box for under $60k. A proper rebuild is (as most people know) NOT cheap. Also not something I want to take on.
