Teach me race seats

I loved my m-rain edition. The fabric wasn't daily friendly, and I'm back to stock seats. Putting the car back to a more "backroads enthusiast" build because honestly, HPDEs in the southeast has drama ans it's just not fun.

Good to know. I went to my first “big boy” track here in BC called area 27 and the stock seats sucked. I was bracing so hard just to try and stay in the seat. So I figured next thing should be a good seat!

If you need a seat base, I have a pair of macht schnell bases + sliders for $425 shipped CONUS. The PCI and bride sliders tend to get crunchy and/or loose.

Thanks for all the great info on this thread, it's been a big help while I build my car out for more track-focused driving.

I just got my roll bar in and am moving on to seats and 6-point harnesses. I picked up the PCI slider mounts, and noticed the lap belt mount locations on the floor bracket sit very close to the edges of the floor, especially on the tunnel side. My OMP harness comes with eye bolts for the lap belts, but there's no way the eye bolt fits on the tunnel side.

I have a few ideas for replacing the eye bolt, but wanted to ask how you all mounted your lap belts on similar setups.

Yep I was going there too, but the belts I have aren't going to work with that style

I also purchased harnesses with sewn-in ends, ended up returning them because i was going down a rabbit hole in cost looking at that same mounting tab thingy. In retrospect i could have kept them but oh well.

Personally, with my pci setup:

Oem seat belt anchor: fixed hole on door side
Oem seat belt buckle: fixed or sliding hole on tunnel side, with extender
Sub belts: pci sub anchor
Harness Lap belts: cusco clip in adapter. Note, you will need to enlarge the hole a little, they are slightly off from the factory.

The more I look at this the more I'm starting to think the same as you to cut my losses, even if I get the lap belts figured out I'm going to have other challenges with the sub belts as they are the same style.

For anyone else going with the PCI mounts your probably gonna want loose style belt ends, where you have the option for bolt-in.

To help set expectations for any first timers (I was a first timer) with seat installs. This is very much an iterative process of putting the seat in pulling it out and many adjustments to get it right. Plan on messing around with lots of hardware (nuts and bolts) to get it right, drilling holes bigger, wasting some money experimenting, ect... result is a much better driving experience, but set your expectations that your gonna be working at this for a while (for me ~4 weeks) before your happy with it.

I have used Schroth harnesses with the clip-style ends with PCI mounts in a different car. You will need the above mentioned hardware for mounting on the tunnel side of the seat. I used some Brey Krause pieces I had from a prior car for the tunnel side (R-9004 and R-9002 (I think)).

Joining this thread as a racing seat noob...

I would like to know recommendations on sliders/mounts on a daily driven car with Recaro Podiums. Schroth 6-Point Harnesses (yes i have HANS) have already been purchased for track-only use. Anyways, I will list below what I've gathered so far to purchase. Just asking for some double checking and what I'm missing! (keep in mind I am 5'9 and would really love to still see the road in front of me safely, and would also like this to be as easy as possible, these race seat installs are a pain)
