lol beg to differ on the 400hp sports car, AUDI TTRS will pants them easily lol
There is nothing appealing for me in TTRS apart of its 5cyl engine. Almost no1 is crosshopping tt when looking for a sportscar like Supra or Cayman... I'd literally take any nice FWD hot hatch for pure fun than a boring AWD Audi, its just lacking. It loses every comparo it is in for a reason, the handling, steering feel, sitting position, the balance, the corner adjustability and overall involvement are just not there compared to competition.
I stop this off top right here and continue on interview about Supra only ;)

have you actually owned one or are you just going by other peoples reviews? Lmao. The TTRS will mop the floor with any of the cars you mention. If you don't like the looks thats one thing. But the performance is undeniable. 118 stock, 124 with a 93 tune, 130ish with just an e85tune, 136plus with fbo e85 low 10’s to high 9’s stock turbo, stock trans, stock motor hitting sub 2.7 0-60. Seating position?! Lmao Gtfo! The car handles really well, the steering is directly and precise unlike this numb bmw. Driver feedback is one of the best, its rocket on a go-cart.
Ill stop right here since you dont have any actual facts or real experience in ownership (stupid wink face)

I dont need to own one for 3 years to have an opinion lol. I should be impressed by staight performance? Eeeem... no? Yes its brutaly fast, esp when tunned but thats it. Alpine A110 is not straight line monster yet its like galaxy above TT as a sports car. Clearly U are the one that didnt drive anything good if U think TTRS is a masterpiece. Good precise steering? Drive somehing like GT3RS or any McLaren and then talk to me about steering or driver feedback. Or at least Cayman 987. U right, there is nothing to talk about, U got no idea. Go drag racing with ur fake haldex-quattro ttrs.
EOT, wont respond to ur delusions anymore.

That's what I thought, no real world experience. Bench racing for the win--magazine racer. Keep the debate where the original lines are, dont take it to other places so you can save face for your obvious lack of knowledge and experience. Bringing a GT3RS into the debate, a car thats 3x the price, not in the same market or bracket is pathetic, like you. The word "masterpiece" was never spoken by me, thats your verbatim. In that class of car, and price bracket, its a Star and with a 2.5k in mods its in hyper car territory. Ive driven all the plenty of 570s and this weekend I have a date with a 720. But I wouldnt bring them into comparison with the 400hp club and 60k like you did, that would be.....stupid. I dont care if your respond or not your arguments are weak asf, its clear you have no idea what the F you are talking about. Never having owned, or driven the car in question and then contrasting characteristics of cars 3-4x its price, is simply ignorance at its finest.

Y'all gotta actually relax a bit. Too many triggered responses over the most silliest things that don't even relate to the actual conversation.

If you really have to talk, please keep it to the DMs and stop flooding our inboxes with crap. Thanks

It was mentioned that there was additional 86 discussion. Since I drove two 86s (2013 FR-S, 2016 FR-S) prior to acquiring my Supra I would be very interested to see what Tada-san had to say. I love that platform and miss it. I would be very appreciative if you would post it.

It's good that you got a chance to sit down and talk to Tetsuya Tada-san
He's my hero in a way because he brought back a couple of great sports cars like the GT86 and GR Supra even though they were made by joint ventures with other manufacturers and that's what helps Toyota bring the GR Yaris
Would I still want a manual transmission in the GR Supra? Yes, I do but at the same time if I'm already going to have a manual car like the Civic Type R then I wouldn't mind going auto in the GR Supra since the ZF works so well!
And I think the Supra 2.0 is compelling as it makes a more affordable option and more opportunities for tuning
Yes there are cars like Camaro and Mustang that are cheap and got a lot of power but remember they are muscle cars while the GR Supra is a sports car
It's sad that Tada-san is not going to be working on a new 86 sports car but he did tell us that the new GR86/BRZ will be a lot better so there is hope
And I do hope that he makes a GR Corolla for us Americans using the drivetrain from the GR Yaris that would be nice like how Hyundai has the i30N in Europe and Veloster N in America
Overall, I'm happy that Tada-san brought back the sports car which is why got me to be a Toyota fan especially with the Supra, Soarer, AE86, and Celica GT-Four
Really looking forward to seeing what is there in store for Toyota's Gazoo Racing performance development!

Don't know about a GR corolla. technically tada is retired and was just brought on for the supra project. so we'll see what happens.

The GR Corolla with the same drivetrain as the GR Yaris should be coming. Apparently is not a project Tada was on but it was an all in house Toyota project in gestation for many years as a rally car first which then got the green light for a production version.

A70 mentioned that there will be very minor differences in the AWD system but that it’s all essentially the same architecture. What I hope comes along with that is the option for front and rear Torsen options.

The C-HR should be getting a detuned version of its driveline in some form but the GR Corolla is the one you’ll actually want.

Based on rumblings here on the 2nd Gen 86/BRZ I’m not sure what’s happening with it other than that Toyota has a bullet list of what they want but isn’t intimately involved any longer. But hopefully it will remain RWD, 6-speed manual, LSD equipped and for once turbocharged.

I read part of this as they were going to detune the CH-R drivetrain and use it for the Corolla GR. Some real Fred Flintstone shit as you’d be pushing the Corolla if it had a detuned CH-R drivetrain.

I don’t think it’s possible to detune the C-HR’s anemic engine any more, lol.

I guess they could adapt everything from the GR Yaris’ 1.6L I-3 turbo to the C-HR’s 1.8L I-4 but that would cost more money I’d think?

All that has been hinted at so far (in the GR Yaris thread) is that the driveline from the GR Yaris will be adapted for the GR Corolla pretty much as is. Maybe it will see a little bump in power due to the added weight of the Corolla vs Yaris? Dunno.

There is even less info on what this means for a GR C-HR but presumably it will get AWD and a turbo engine as well but not tuned as high as the GR Corolla. Transmission wise it’s been suggested that the GR Corolla will get the GR Yaris’ 6-speed M/T box. No telling if a GR C-HR will get a manual also.

If the GR CHR gets a manual, it would be like a reborn AE86 Trueno

I have to respectfully disagree there. The C-HR is a crossover/CUV. It’s LOOKS like it should have come standard with AWD and a turbo 200hp+ engine in all BASE models but it’s still a crossover/CUV nonetheless that looks nothing at all like an AE86 Trueno and has none of that classic car’s appeal and certainly won’t drive anything like a classic AE86. People will buy them but even including a manual isn’t going to change what it is.

Even the GR Corolla will have a lineage closer to the ST165, ST185 and ST205 Celica GT-Four rather than an AE86.

The GT86 is the closest thing to a modern day AE86 Trueno and does pretty well at trying to fill that role.
