Since we got so many new information the last couple of days and it's hard to keep track, I thought it would be best to combine everything we know (or might not) and write it down.
For the following list of information I combined most of the relevant (and somewhat confirmed) information Bimmerpost, GT86Drivers and SupraMKV have.

But first of all: Don't take this for granted, but this is a list of all more or less confirmed data.
Also, so far the BMW code list leaked over a year ago seams to be quite right.

G29 (Z4):

Market name: Z4
Market intro: Mid to late 2018 as 2019 model
US market models:
  • sDrive30i (inline 4-cyl 2.0l turbo charged B48 @ around 185 kW)
  • sDrive M40i (inline 6-cyl 3.0l turbo charged B58)
EU market models:
  • sDrive20i (inline 4-cyl 2.0l turbo charged B48 @ around 145 kW)
  • sDrive30i (inline 4-cyl 2.0l turbo charged B48 @ around 185 kW)
  • sDrive M40i (inline 6-cyl 3.0l turbo charged B58)
Transmission types: planned were AUT and MECH versions, but Bimmerpost information does not see any manual G29 for the US (though the code list clearly states both transmission types for the US)
Seats: 2

Pricing: similar to previous generation of Z4

Power/Engine: M40i engine will have power output not very far from M2/S55.

J29 (SPX):

Market name: (?) [nothing really confirmed, no official decision from Toyota marketing as of yet]
Market intro: early 2019 as 2019 model
(BMW has the right to introduce its new Z4 before Toyota introduces the SPX)
planned was 3rd quarter 2018, but pushed back due to BMW (Z4) and internal Toyota issues (see A70TTR's posts recently)
US market models:
  • sDrive30i (inline 4-cyl 2.0l turbo charged B48 @ around 185 kW)
  • sDrive M40i (inline 6-cyl 3.0l turbo charged B58 @ around 283 kW)
EU market models:
  • sDrive20i (inline 4-cyl 2.0l turbo charged B48 @ around 145 kW)
  • sDrive30i (inline 4-cyl 2.0l turbo charged B48 @ around 185 kW)
  • sDrive M40i (inline 6-cyl 3.0l turbo charged B58 @ around 283 kW)
Transmission types: planned was AUT only, but A70TTR told us the MECH was tested recently
German source: 185 kW does have AUT only, 283 kW most probably too
There exists a prototype with MECH, but only for the entry level model (145 kW)
Seats: 2
Toyota had shipped one of the prototypes (with Munich license plate; VIN: WBX [Magna]) to Japan.
German source confirmed no +2 in prototype, but enough room in the back to put +2 in.

Pricing:
  • sDrive20i (145 kW; entry level; non-US) is aimed to start in Japan for around 3.850.000 Yen (29k €)
  • sDrive30i (285 kW; mid-level; US-entry-level): no word about this level, but will be somewhere in between 20i and M40i
  • sDrive M40i (283 kW; top level) is aimed to start in Japan for around 7.850.000 Yen (59k €)

Power/Engine: Engines are the same as Z4 (G29) with potential minor tweaks made by Toyota (don't expect a completely new engine; will be B48 and B58), no hybrid
Engineering: Internal tech is fully BMW, platform is BMW (future BMW models shall use the platform)

A70TTR told us that none of the 4 cylinder models will be coming to the US.

Did I miss that? Thought I revisited all of A70TTR's posts yesterday and found no "clear evidence" the US is not getting the 4-cyl B48 - only that probably no one in the US will care about the entry level version and look for the B58.

my understanding echoes an earlier one in here and another thread iirc, but that the U.S. will only be getting the high spec car.
Does that mean just the more powerful 6 cylinder and a 4 banger base model, or no 4 banger all together? I'm hoping for the latter.
385hp model and that's it; I believe the other models are Europe and Japan only (because they enjoy trim levels more? No idea.)

I was told the U.S. will only be getting the top tier car. this is likely more to do with marketing and the American philosophy of bigger is always better (the Spec-B being the most powerful, having largest displacement, and most options).

With the product development shake-up in the past month though, who knows... I still feel it is unlikely the U.S will receive the 4cyl and if anything may receive an even higher spec car tuned by GRMN and branded as TRD at a slightly later date.

Yeah, missed that one. Had the whole Spec-A, Spec-B thing in mind

Unlikely, yes, but could also be possible the 4-cyl will be under another name. Sounds a little bit like the marketing problem they might have here in Germany (entry level is not the same but very close to the current GT86).
Also it is not clear to me how much Gazoo is doing right now and how that will influence the product in the end.

Correct me if I'm wrong but there is a Spec-A and Spec-B for both the 4 and 6 cyl models.

4 cyl: 200hp and 250hp
6 cyl: 335hp and 385hp

one model each, Spec-A and Spec-B, from what I've gleaned.

194hp 4cyl / 385hp 6cyl

there were echoes of the lower powered Spec B at 335hp, but it was likely the early testing guise of the 385hp car.

^Thats odd, that would mean the new 4cyl Z4 will make less power than the E89 (@ 240hp US). Or is that just for the Toyota?

typo'd, meant 240hp

the information on the Spec-A has been really limited though since BMW is primarily the one testing that car apparently. I'd have to ask some confirmation on power levels in order to be sure.

that dash card from above shows the lower power level and I had heard 240hp, so now im confused.

EDIT: that dash card is from the Z4 so now makes sense why; pretty sure that's a Z4 only spec.

just asked about the 4cyl power level and was met with this response: "who said it is 240hp?"

couldn't get any other information unfortunately :(

wonder if they increased the power level much like the did on the 6cyl...
