Price too high for 335 hp? Ummm, last time I checked, the A90 3.0 makes more than 335hp at the crank.... Where is this guy getting this crap from?

Hes also a kid that hasn't had any seat time in a new supra.
I will be honest, I was alittle annoyed and skeptical about the new Supra too. With the bmw motor and etc. I am a huge import guy and love japanese cars. So, I was alittle upset too.
My sales lady let me test drive a slightly used A90 with 1,000 miles. First 30 seconds, I was HOLY FK! lol I was sold after that..........

Not sure if you addressed this elsewhere but what would make it perfect in your opinion.
Keep in mind, this is my so called ā€œperfectā€ Supra.
There are 4 major & 2 minor things. Not gonna go indepth.
4 Major:
  1. Weight - Supra isnā€™t boat like some other sports car... but that shouldnā€™t be an excuse to add weight. They need fully loaded 3.0L ver minimum of 100kg (220lbs) lighter than current ver.
  2. MT Option - Current AT (ZF) isnā€™t bad... but not enough. Need like 7sp MT option.
  3. Suspension - Design of Supra suspension is great... but could of engineered it better.
  4. Limited Edi - No matter how you look at it, Supra is unique car. It shouldnā€™t compete to mass production. Within that, making more limited Edi will truly shine the name Supra. Not talking about A91 or Launch Edi or GT4. What if GR made Supra like Porsche R models. Whole purpose is shed weight, MT & driver focus. Donā€™t have pointless safety gizmo. Hell, if they made it & letā€™s say priced at +$75k, ppl will still buy it.
2 Minor:
  1. Interior - Quality control need to be done plus better. Like gauge could of used better design & use the whole gauge area better.
  2. Exterior - Not knocking of fake vents, cuz it prob work (if you try), but I like it simple design w less stuff.
If they want to compete w Porsche, they need to look into what make Porsche plus other brands that make worth every penny.

Coming from Porsche and aside from the way it already is, I couldn't agree with you more on this! Toyota should have made it a more simple from the beginning.

They could have offered the infotainment fablet, JBL sub , leather full power seats, CF trim, larger wheels the premium model while having the 3.0 as an entry level Supra. Give customers the options individually to their builds instead of a bundle package forcing them to buy it. That would have reduced the cost substantially and like Porsche, you can fully customize your options down to the deviating stitching, seat options down to the wheel finish.

Agreed Agreed Agreed! someone who tracks and races my BMW's, I was expecting for the Supra to have a lighter more hardcore track focused variant. Power increase is great but lets see a Supra that's around the 3,000lb marker, no Sub, Carbon Roof, Carbon vented Bonnet, a rear adjustable wing. This is where im somewhat building mine up to without sacrificing the daily drivability. Sorry to say but....ALL HAIL PORSCHE.

Guy
Now, some older folks remember watching HVI or BMI and seeing him & his GTR. Interview is a bit long, so can skip til 15:00.

TLDR; he pretty much doesnā€™t like it & tbh, I think thatā€™s fine as an opinion. He helped bring tuning world bigger in 90ā€™s and he have legit point. Seeing, building and driving crazy JDM cars, so he knows what he likes and donā€™t like.

Do I feel same as him? No. I enjoy new Supra. Donā€™t think itā€™s perfect and need to update some of the stuff to be so call ā€œperfectā€. I hope GR continue to do annual update, which Tada-san promised.

Having both like & dislike helps improves and update the car to be better... as long as manufacturer listen to the right ppl.
so he says itā€™s a waste of money bc itā€™s a BMW inside it? Sounds like he just doesnā€™t like BMW bc he is Japanese?

And he said itā€™s slow, nobody told him to go buy the 4 cylinder Supra. Lmao

I am not sure what car he drove, but the stock 3.0 is not slow at all. I was very impressed on how quick it was from the factory. This is me coming from a 600hp (crank) 2800lb Acura RSX....

Exactly! It has too many unnecessary luxury items that not only add weight but forces the buyer to "deal with it". Toyota applied the FR-S/86 Scion program where buyers are left to buy it equipped unlike the GT86 in Japan where they offered a base model RC.

Another thing, did
Kobayashi competed in Nathanā€™s hot dog eating contest every year?!!
That's another Kobayashi.
