totally agree for the sound , while i do have some 4 cylinders in mind that make good sound , 2 of them mentioned by A70TTR they are no match for the sound of sporty 6 cylinders. But the reality at the moment is that 2.0 turbo engines are a sweet spot for manufacturers for speed and regulations , if they downsize more they loose a significant amount of power and gain little in terms of emissions reduction. The supra and celica is sure to have 6 cylinder and i am sure it will be fast , agile and good sounding . So i don't believe the 4 cyl will be a problem if it is on the celica car , it is a performer for its price range and gives us the option to go manual which i believe must be offered in one of the trims.

anyone else surprised to learn that the new 301hp V6 only manages 5.8 0-60s and 14.3 in the 1/4 mile? then again, that 3500lb curb weight kills I suppose. Apparently the outgoing Camry was faster than that :(

my ancient DD '03 Maxima has 255hp, weighs 3100lbs, and does 0-60 in 6.3s and the 1/4 in 14.5

plenty fast enough, why should it be any faster? don't think camry and avalon owners, or really that segment in general, really care? plus, whether it be maxima, accord, camry, avalon, they have always done 0-60 around 6 secs each generation despite getting bigger/heavier typically. The only midsize FWD sedan that blows this out of the water is the TT V6 Fusion Sport, but how many people have actually bought one?

This Celica and Supra trim-line separation would be a very interesting and I believe very plausible option for Toyota. It sounds very reminiscent of how the Supra was originally marked in it's first two generations from 1978-1985. The chassis was shared between Celica and the Supra trim lines but the but the suspension, brakes, body, and engine and some interior pieces were upgraded for the supra lineup. In the case of the mk2 Supra upgrades over the base Celica models were as follows: independent rear suspension, disk breaks, low ratio LSD diff, longer and arguably sleeker front end, fender flares, wider wheels with upgraded tires, much more powerful inline 6, 5 speaker sound system (a pioneer in it's day) and 8 way ajustable adjustable seats (that were better then most Recaros of the period). This allowed for two models to be produced for a much lower cost and also lower risk to Toyota should it have the Supra lineup fail. The price separation from a base model Celica to a Supra was significant around 10- 15,000 in todays money accounting for inflation, this would be in line with the current price difference estimations for the mk5 Supra. Once sales increased steadily Toyota realized that two totally separate platforms would be profitable, in 1986 the Supra and Celica models were totally separated. This has been notified as an issue for Toyota Development hence the shared platform with BMW to lower the cost (and risk).

I wanna be fast when I get my groceries... If you're not first, you're last.
Good line -- but more seriously if you aren't planning on tracking your car regularly (or commuting on the Autobahn) I don't know how you could get much opportunity to use really massive power. Not easily on the street, especially if you live in a well-patrolled urban area. Hell, even the 370Z I tested only gave me a few seconds to enjoy WOT on the freeway before I was at license-losing speeds - and if the base Supra has the same power and weighs 300 lbs less, it's going to be more than enough for me.

for a sporty sedan that is nice to be in and is also fast and awd or rwd is the new kia stinger , i have seen many reviews on youtube for the car as it is not yet available for test drive , and it seems very impressive for a kia .

Maybe we'll see it at New York. That's where the FR-S concept debuted.

I sure hope so, everyone is chomping at the bit to see this puppy, the latest renderings look incredibly very accurate/proportional Im curious to see how close they are to the real thing

I'm starting to think it may be Geneva (which is what I voted for the other day), but I wont give my reasons why; it's nothing insider related.
