Well I'm already seeing dried up dirt collecting in this channel. Looks like I'll need too find a tool that I can use to get in there and scrub the debris out. Great spot for fostering rust down the line if one doesn't keep this area clean.
I just use a toothbrush if any dirt needs to be loosened up and the cloth I use for polishing. It really isn't a big deal. Super easy and done. Or use a wet-dry vac and just suck it up.

Pretty sure the trunk is aluminum so no rust.

Tip: If your using a leaf blower, try to cover the end of the blower so you don't scratch your car on accident. Sometimes your focusing on the water and you keep getting closer and closer to the paint. Next thing you know, you scratched it with the hard plastic end of the blower. Depending on the diameter of your blower, you can use some painters tape wrapped on the end. I prefer to use a koozie on the end for the extra padding.

Anyone get a lot of water that sits on the gap between the rear hatch glass and the body of the hatch?

hmm, wonder what the long term impact of that will be.. especially as cars get older.. Rust?.. Seal failure and leak into hatch? time will tell

Whenever i wash my car or it rains, I usually cover it or dry it up ASAP, but yes, i do see your point. others even see condensation forming in their taillights..

Hatch is plastic so rust won't be an issue. I'd think seal issues being the worst possibility

Happens to mine, especially annoying when temps are below freezing outside as it glues the hatch shut sometimes.

No need to vacuum or blower off, just open it a litter bit and wait until it drains ?, works for me. I had it for a week and today was the 5th time I wash it ?
Exactly. Open it while drying somewhere else. Come back later to dry and clean the gunk around the seals and such. Close and dry with no puddles at the corners....
