My brother runs the P800 setup on his 2021. The turbo can make all the power and then some, but knock and cooling will be your problem. Depending on where you live (we’re in the desert) a heat exchanger maybe a good idea. A proper fuel setup will be a necessity if you plan on anything more...
Toyota only puts a GR series run plaque (i.e., x of xxx) on vehicles they have direct involvement in….so, regardless of who makes the transmission (BMW doesn’t build this transmission either, it’s ZF), if it has this plaque (which it will when you open the door) then it means the Supra will have...
What I know is the axles and differential had revisions in testing….to what extent, I don’t know yet. However, strength and weight were key points for the axles and differential. There was also mention of larger brakes I believe rear setup (discs and calipers) during testing….I heard that...
So, from what I am told (again, this is what someone else is telling me) the main concern that caused the delay was NVH, weight, and operating temps. I believe GR division removed/revised alot of the components that made the manual ZF "comfortable" for BMW drivers, and in return got a; lighter...
It’s a GR transmission that will not be shared with any other car. As I stated numerous times in the past, Toyota wasn’t satisfied with the BMW gearboxes throughout their extensive testing, so they “re-engineered” one specifically for the MKV Supra.
I wouldn’t get that extreme to be honest. However, Toyota isn’t stupid….and they know that to put a non-performance oriented manual in a performance oriented chassis won’t bode well. BMW’s M cars have always had stout yet smooth manuals. In the MKV/Z4’s case, they did take different paths for...
I don’t want to say yes because I don’t “officially” know if it’s from the Z4 or some other Bimmer. I’m just saying that from what I heard, the manual originally slated for the Z4 had a different purpose than what Toyota was testing for the MKV. The “stronger” transmission almost got axed...
From previous info, I believe the manual setup will be different between the MKV and Z4. Clutch, diff, axles, and stiffer trans mount. The setup in the Z4 should be smoother and more “civilized” while the setup in the MKV will be more “performance” oriented.
Yeah I agree with you guys on the design as well. It’s like, I can’t tell one Tesla from another. Not throwing Tesla under the bus or anything, they are great cars….however, they look too simple, and identical to each other. Also, we need to get more E85 out there….at least for now until...
Ive been preaching the same thing….I truly believe (as does Toyota and many highly engineering-focused companies) that Hydrogen will be the future. However, gasoline will take a long, long, looooong time to be obsolete. The EV infrastructure isn’t anywhere near where it should be to kick off a...
