I have a FN2 Type R which is a lot of fun and just too good to get rid of. It's also super reliable and pretty easy on fuel. This allows me to keep the Supra off short drive to work duty and on Sunday/longer drive duty. While I'm finding more and more reasons to drive the Supra (even to work on...
The Supra gearbox is OK; with the CDV delete I could upgrade it to good but exceptional it is not. Drive a Type R from the last 15 years and I guarantee your definition of exceptional will be redefined.
Workshop did mine while it was in for some other work. 30 mins job from what I understand. As for longevity, if you know how to drive properly it should cause less damage with the CDV deleted, from what I understand.
Just wanted to let you know, I can't find any evidence of this. In fact, all I can find online is evidence to suggest the CDV is installed in most M cars. ?‍♂️
So I went for a fairly long drive today, doing about 400km (250 miles) on mostly nice twisty country roads. This was my first genuine drive since having my CDV deleted and my first impressions are that it has indeed fixed the reliability of the 1-2 shift.
Don't get me wrong, deleting the CDV...
I agree. I daily a 15 year old Honda and it's gearbox (even after all this use) is light years beyond the Supra. Having said this, the transmission in the manual Supra isn't particularly bad (other than the 1-2 shift*) but it is just disappointing to see how far behind it is compared to decades...
You're going to miss that gearbox: All those the Supra gearbox is the best I have ever used comments are just code for I have never actually used a properly good manual gearbox.
The M2 honestly doesn't look that bad in real life. It's certainly no Supra but it's actually better than you might think. And the M2s interior really leaves our cars for dead. Pity its in a completely different price bracket here though.. Our prices are all way different to the US: The M2 costs...
I honestly can't make a solid comment just yet - I literally drove the car home and then to the PPF shop a few days later. I can say that it did feel a little different out of the box. Not particularly better but also not worse. Just different. Not wildly different, mind you but I want to say...
Not really. The drivers setting these times couldn't give two shits about the cars they test. They're probably flat shifting and generally bashing the shit out of the transmission (and rest of the car). I mean, sure.. they might extract magical times, but at what cost?
While I am the first to...
