A 37k 86 that should have been done, but Subaru wants to be selfish or step in.A 4 banger priced in a way as to not step on the 86 market? A70 stop hitting the like button..you're making us crazy![]()
I really like the idea..Its just hard to see where three cars would fall in the market for me. I'm a huge fan but if you push me into Cayman price.....why not just by the Porsche?A 37k 86 that should have been done, but Subaru wants to be selfish or step in.
Now, we'll get a car that rivals a STI and the likes at that price range.
Never forget.

Well too many Porsches out thereI really like the idea..Its just hard to see where three cars would fall in the market for me. I'm a huge fan but if you push me into Cayman price.....why not just by the Porsche?
I still think a manual is a throwback mechanicthat keeps enthusiast engaged only because it reminds them of their youth.
No offense; but i don't think you guys can actually drive a manual in a high-performance manner.Often the choice to have a manual comes at the cost of development money that could be better spent elsewhere on the vehicle. Manuals are slower than automatics now. I'll never for the life of me understand what attachment manual people have to pressing a 3rd petal since you can now control shifting through automanuals now too.
So manuals are better at drifting and doing high speed u-turns. Bro I drive the speed limit and maintain a 3 second space cushion during rush hour.No offense; but i don't think you guys can actually drive a manual in a high-performance manner.
This is a short wheelbase, 2 seater; purely a performance toy. the AT-only RC-F is a better track/daily option.
In that sense please comprehend the following maneuvers:
A- in Autocross, approaching a U-turn, you come in hot, brake in a straight line, while braking at a certain point and rpm combination you clutch-kick it to jolt the rear; to minimize the turning radius by channeling some of car's momentum sideways (like a ship's rudder), and in that split second while heel and toe'ing, you blip the throttle to prepare to exit. ......In a ZF, you come-in hot, brake, press the "-" pedal and you're out.....Basically a roller coaster without the loops.
B- In drifting, to initiate a drift, or even more important to actually maintain proximity while tandem'ing at 45-50+mph, you need to "cut the power" for a split second while using the handbrake. valve-bodies really hate that. i mean like REALLY hate that....>_<
and so on.... am just rookie in these things, some pro's i try to learn from in HPDE's and AutoX's do some insane stuff by "orchestrating the pedals". it is like music!
Automatics or DCT's are fundamentally unequipped to perform many advanced driving maneuvers that are ADRENALINE BUMPING FUN.period!
I know that first hand because i own a ZF 6HP equipped car, another with a Getrag DCT and a manual one!
Automatics are faster in track times, true, but for serious lap time breaking, you're better off with a sequential anyway (which, surprise surprise, comes with a clutch for them "power cut" techniques).
Automatics are also faster in moving cars outta the showroom. (and the hence the rest of the marketing stats like 0-60... et.al)
Automatics are actually slower in Autocross, and arguably so in tight twisting tracks (mountain passes!). The ZF 8HPx's are really good at downshifting (can jump 2 gears at once !) but still "it has a mind of its own", not exactly at the command of the driver.
Automatics are orders of magnitude slower raising the adrenaline level in the human blood.
We understand manuals are on their way out... but we still love them. I don’t fault the auto-DCT-PDK crowd, they are faster and more efficient in most situations, and way more convinient if you commute in traffic. And I don’t fault the manufacturers because they sell better and put better 0-60 times in the magazines. But I would take the slower less efficient manual because for us ‘manny trannies’ a good manual is just pure sex. Hence why my S2000 is a keeper. So manuals are better at drifting and doing high speed u-turns. Bro I drive the speed limit and maintain a 3 second space cushion during rush hour.
Joking aside, I understand the visceral experience you manny trannies crave. Manuals are on their way out, thats just the way it is.
