I’m glad this car is around and hope the starting price point of $56k sticks... makes for a nice option for those of us who haven’t bought an a90 and want a fallback option in case our significant other is against getting a 2 seater:fear:
That or if you like semi-compact 4-door sport sedans with a V8 and mechanical limited slip differential as standard equipment ; )

In addition, there is information that "F" is planned for Lexus IS and LS, and it will debut at the earliest this year. The IS is the V8, 5L NA installed in the US specification "F Sport Performance", and the LS is the newly developed V6, 4L twin turbo. The IS F will be 481ps and the LS F will be 660ps.

It's sad what has happened to Lexus - so much potential.

The IS 500 F Sport Performance is nothing but a parts bin special, the original IS-F will be faster than it due to weight. The RC-F could have been so much more better, but it was set up as a frankenstein car and to have a convertible. The GS-F was awesome, as well, but underpowered compared to competition.

Hopefully RR Racing will have some go fast goodies for it - but it looks like the newer F car ECU's are locked as well now too - so out goes the supercharging.

With all that of that negativity above, I have owned my 08 IS-F for almost 13 years now and besides from an LSD update it has stayed stock and it the best daily driver you could ask for and I would never get rid of it.

I’d rather take the parts-bin special IS500 F-Sport rather than what little an IS250 or IS350 offers for the money. It’s an excellent high performance edition of the sedan that doesn’t visually scream for attention.

The next IS-F will surely outperform it and have more exotic specs but will also cost much more.

^^ Good review. I wish the transmission were more responsive in manual mode but overall I think the point is to make a slightly ridiculous naturally aspirated V8 sport sedan that emphasizes fun and emotion above everything else.

Hard to beat a RWD sedan with a 470hp V8 and a mechanical limited slip differential. Practicality and fun. Other than the price, maybe.
