From the reviews, it appears that the 2.0 Supra is just a budget version without much advantage. That 200lbs weight savings was not significant in driving experience as expected. The 2.0 Supra does serve as a nice bridge between the GT86 and the 3.0 Supra. I think the price will also reflect that at around $40-42k.

I was just trying to make a quick neutral wrap up, but if you want to cherry pick then the guy from TFL said the 2.0 motor and tranny don't pair too well together and he didn't feel the weight differences between the two and the 3.0 was more fun in his opinion. Regardless, none of this changes the conclusion, 3.0 > 2.0. Obviously you get what you pay for and it depends on your wants and needs.
Why cherry pick? Imo 100kg weight loss should be noticeable for any good driver, since all other reviewers noticed it. When I drop passenger on the track from fun lap to srs time laps its instantly noticeable. They also said that 2.0 has more turbo lag than 3.0 and some miss adaptive suspension. I'm not hating on 3.0 by any means, just trying to draw neutral conclusions from comparing the two. Both are lovely, esp since 3.0 in 2021 seem to make around 440 crank hp. That with mild tune can get 500hp, kinda insane.
BTW here we got a chance to get 2.0 with premium 3.0 stuff (seats, e-diff, suspension etc)

3.0 wins again :D

I know that Japan and EU gets that option, but it didn't make sense for the US. I'm assuming the 2.0 will start around at the low $40s in the States. If true, hypothetical speaking, after adding on all those goodies it could be pretty close to the base 3.0 price tag.

The difference here is big, its OVER 1/3 cheaper actually, 3.0 vs base 2.0. Premium 2.0 is like 30% cheaper still. So having the car that handles just as good/bit better than 3.0 for the cost of being slower is still very interesting option.

I predict low 40k, like 41 for base in US ;)

Right, from day one I have said a 2.0 makes sense for markets such as Japan & EU with emissions, engine displacement tax, high gas prices, etc. But Idk how successful it will be in the US. Even Toyota USA has forecast only a 20% sales and production rate for the 2.0 model.

Tax for 2.0 motor here is like 3%. For 2.0+ is almost 19% so... :D Base 718 10k Euro more (with no options ofc, when I configured 718 I got easily 10k in extras that I rly wanted). Alpine A110? 10k more. Mustang is simmilar price but that is a 1700kg+ boat. M2? 20k more. F Type 2.0? 20k more.
Seems like a nice option here.
