$5k is just the start...they will probably mark it up more when it comes in if that is how they are playing up the "limitedness" of the car

I put down $500 and am 3rd on my dealer's list.

I had to drive over 2 hours to Eastern, MD. to Koons Toyota to get the LE. All the dealerships around my area wanted at least $10K or more for the Launch Edition. I'm in the central PA. area. What part of PA are you at?
Ahh did you work with Marcus? I know they were asking for a 5k mark-up

No, I worked with Hector. He told me there were several people call in to offer the dealership more than the $5K over MSRP. I already made a $1K deposit so they couldn't sell it to anyone else.

Well, that would be messed up if you put money down for a MSRP price and somebody comes in and says he will pay more than MSRP.... I hope the dealerships honors first come first serve. I would be mad if the dealership sold your car to somebody else Bc they offered more money than you....

just called a dealer and they told me that i have to put a 5k deposit to order an A91....is this normal? i have always heard about $500-1000 deposits to order cars.......I want to order a blue A91 but i dont really understand the dealer sitting on my 5k and cant even tell me when i am to receive my car.....
They're probably asking for a $5k deposit because no one is buying cars right now and they want that money to float themselves. Screw that, they probably charged dealer markups last year on the initial release. They can use that money.

Koons gave me MSRP back in August when I plunked down $5K deposit. Delivery was mid Sept.

They’re heavily discounting their Supras right now. I’m in negotiations currently to replace mine as it was repurchased in March (lemon).

Depends on the dealer..., but $1K should be enough to show you're serious. Without a ballpark date, I wouldn't sweat it.

I haven't heard anything, so I'm assuming mine isn't one of the 400.

Those discounted 2020's looking REAL good right now :hmm:
be strong... hold out for the 2021... You may gotten one of the 400!!!!!!

The real question is, are the 400 (special editions or just base/prems) (or mixture). I smell another recipe for toyota to mark them up even higher with the limited number of 400). God knows they are trying to make more money after this virus stuff...

Yeah exactly. I asked my dealer to find out. So we'll see I guess.

Its most likely a mixed bag i bet. Why put all your a91s out right away, if you can produce through out a model year and make it a unicorn you can keep demand high on those and dealers will be able to sell for a decent profit. Although having only 400 models for 2021 does make this a plus for dealers as they can now simply say 2021 is delayed for months just take our 2020 we will give you at a discount. Either way sales will be fine and not having a 2.0 for a few months more will allow dealers to push out the remaining 2020 as well as they can sell for slightly more than a 2.0 but give you 3.0 performance. Sales figures for 2019 looked pretty decent 2900 units for not even 5 months of sales with avg price between 56-57k.

There's a 1000 coming, so they'll be spread out either way. Even if all 400 are A91 models, which I also doubt. I just need one blue one in there headed to Cleveland lol. Just the one :p
