Hey fellas,

I've been reading all over and cannot find a definitive answer on this. I am sorry if it has been discussed but I promise I did search quite a bit mostly finding info on older AT cars.

I have a 24 45th AE MT and want to unlock my ECU with MHD+ and put my downpipe on, however I am not clear on if there is any way to do the unlock without voiding the warranty. I keep seeing folks talk about cloned ECUs but it needing to be an older ECU. I guess what I don't understand is, if I were to purchase another 24 MT ECU from Toyota, is Femto unable to clone my factory ECU to that 2nd ECU and then do the unlock on it? I read somewhere that there will be a mileage discrepancy between the ECU and cluster odometer but I don't know if that would ever be an issue if say the engine was a lemon and decided to spin a bearing or something. If not a 24 ECU, can one of the old pre-encrypted units be used instead? I have also seen mention of limitations with my car being a manual transmission model.

I just passed 500 miles on the odometer and was going to wait until I have at least 1000 to 1500 miles or so to see make sure the engine is good but my problem is that I just don't have a ton of time to drive running two business, working 6 days a week. I took delivery of my car in January of this year just to paint the picture of how limited I am on time. I just don't want to end up in a position where if the engine was a lemon let's go that Toyota would deny the warranty on it.

Any input is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Sorry to go off topic but are those the IND reflectors? The color match looks great in those pics

I believe at this time, MT DMEs are not able to be cloned.

So right now you don’t have to worry about that. Also MT unlocks are only partial unlock at this time. Correct me if I’m wrong please.

Yes they are. We did a video for them on YouTube:

Couple of different topics here

1) anything related to tuning or unlocking the ECU is a crapshoot with warranty stuff. There are laws in place that manufacturers can’t just “void” your entire warranty, that instead they’d have to prove the modification cause the issue. So an unlocked ECU and downpipe maybe wouldn’t void the warranty on your idrive display being faulty. But if you melt a piston sure if they know you did it as a result of increased boost or timing.
2) about the cloning, my understanding is manual trans cars ECUs cannot accept an older cloned ECU. Specifically it being a manual is the issue. Since the e clonable ECUs were all pre June 2020 and obviously they were all automatics.
so the only option is a “partial unlock” by femto that opens up the calibration section of the DME.
im in the same boat as you, new manual, but personally I’m not going to ship off the ECU until I get through maybe a year at least to make sure there isn’t some warranty issue that pops up before I go ripping the car apart.

The cloning option that Femto offers is pre-June 2020 ECU. Not just any spare ECU.

It's also not currently available for the MT, so you're limited to an unlock. Others above mentioned it's only a "partial unlock", but the EPC tracker just says "unlock". I'm not 100% sure it's limited to partial unlocks anymore. (https://willmy062020plusecugotorussia.com)
