Hey guys so ive been looking at buying a car for a while now, and i was dead set on buying a MK8 Golf R at a 38k price tag. However i started looking at 3.0 premiums and absolutely fell in love and did a 180. However its a 10k price difference which i am fine with and the monthly payment would increase by about 100-120 depening on price. My question is, is it worth it to grab one for 49k after taxes and fees with around 40k miles or should i go up more to 53-55k otd after taxes for less miles. All the dealers i have spoken with so far have been hard stuck on price so i would just like some opinions right now.

Worth is subjective. I personally don`t feel spending 50k on a now 5/6 year old Supra that is completely out of warranty and unknown driving record worth it. But some might say you are still getting a great car for the money and its likely to hold value.

If you have a garage and/or know how to work on cars halfway decently, and you have a service history / good carfax on it, then it's worth it especially over any alternative you can think of under $50K. The thing is these cars are pretty bulletproof if they haven't been utterly abused. If you have no clue how to work on cars / don't have the means to do so, I would probably up the budget a bit and look at other used options with less miles.

For reference, I bought my 2021 in 2024 with 26K miles for $49K with no carfax or service history, and 15K miles later; most of that with an aggressive JB4 map (and now MHD), the only issue I've had with it is the oil pump failing (which is sadly a common issue for the first couple of model years.)
