The result of having too much shit in the garage. I shaded too far to the right to avoid boxes between my car and my wife's in the garage and caught the edge of the door frame. All paint. Just pisses me off.

...always heart-breaking! I've done that with my MX5's side view mirror against the left garage door frame. Thankfully, it mostly buffed out.
Maybe that was a sign for you to rearrange the stuff in your garage.

Yep, only myself to blame. It is what it is, just pisses me off. She's not a show queen... my daily driver and autocross car, she's ridden hard and put away wet, but I should have been more cautious.

Could it be the doors paint baked onto the paint? Or you can feel the discrepancy of the paint missing?

It is rough. I'll know more when I can see it in daylight, and with a clear head/mind. I may be able to get most of the white off, but I have a feeling it'll look rough. Scars make for good stories, right?

Just wait until someone slams into your perfect condition, low mile car, causes 23k worth of damage, body shop does a terrible job and the paint is so terrible it flakes off just by looking at it. I'll take what you are going through over my situation....

That sucks for sure. This one is all on me... I should have been more careful. It is what it is and hopefully it'll buff out, but if it requires some paintwork, so be it. Fender looks okay from what I can see, front lip is good, as is the wheel. I wouldn't give a shit if the house was damaged, but the car... makes me want to cry.

Sorry to see. Check with your dealer (and even local used car dealers) as they usually have contractors that do both paintless dent repair and spot repair for their used cars. If daily driver, I think it's worth a try to get it spot repaired. Some of them do an excellent job filling the rough surface and blending. Usually the repair only takes a few hours and drive home the same day.

This transfer paint will most likely rubout with a quality polish (3M or Meguiar's). The lighter paint from the garage is typically a surface transfer. Let's hope it didn't impact the factory paint beneath. Chances are you'll be good once the lighter paint is removed.

Nearly the same spot...those wide tires. This happened to me in a parking lot. I think this is a bumper that brushed against the fender. The Black is the Plastic bumper cover under the paint. the dealer said about $1K to reshoot a bumper cover. I was looking at a company that offers a spray can that matches. Very disappointing.

Not that it will be cheap to fix if it doesn't buff out at all, but at least it was on plastic instead of metal. Sucks to see either way/hear

Unfortunate to see, I'm very thankful my PPF saved me from a traffic cone a few weeks ago, still cost me a carbon front lip and had to re PPF the bumper but ya paint work always sucks, but luckily its on plastic, always better than something you are going to need to blend or do body work for.

I bought the car used, but the paint is in great shape... no PPF, and honestly I don't expect to keep it perfect. She's a daily driver, autocross warrior, and I'll have cone-strikes for sure... but this was just a stupid error on my part and that eats at my soul.

Looked at it today in the daylight, and there is some white paint transfer on the very rim of the wheel well, but I think that'll buff out. The bumper doesn't appear to be gouged at all, so I'm hoping I can get most of the white off with a good polish, and at least get it back to black/nocturnal look. If it isn't perfectly shiny... I'll deal. Lip is still intact.

Got her mostly cleaned up. Some tiny scratches, and the clear is a little hazy, but nothing a competent detailer cannot fix. Could have been worse.

Dude, I hit 27 of them last autocross season. That gave me the win for the coveted 2023 Cone Killer award. Cone marks come right off with a little Meguiers Scratch Out. Both of the plastic air dam pieces in the front are gone though.
