I only have an intake installed on my car. I just hit 3k miles and I got a check engine light. I plugged in the obdlink into my car to and I received a “p0171” code.

According to google that means I am running too lean (https://www.fixdapp.com/blog/p0171-code/). Any ideas why I got the code? I installed the intake about 2 months ago so not sure why i got that code. I did clear the code through the obdlink, but maybe I should just take it to Toyota? Not sure…

Single brand, same station or different stations/brands?
I used a different station the last time i pumped gas, but i regularly go to a 711 right next to my house. Would tht be the issue?! Switching stations…?

What intake? Check sensor is placed properly. Leaks around it? Any obvious damages? Very sensitive part..
i think you can read the value thru any obdreader and compare against others.

Armaspeed intake, no obvious damage. Do you know what the value that I am suppose to be reading is called?

Air mass flow. I dunno the values, sorry. I suggested it but elevation etc probably affects it. So may be difficult fo compare. But add fuel flow to it, you could calculate AF ratio... Obviously if it's throwing lean errors, it's either fuel or air ?

It’s certainly not the intake.
For sure.
But I meant a damaged maf sensor sending wrong values?
What else, injectors? Spark plug?
Rather low fuel octane....

Probably bad gas. Can op fill up a couple gallons of e85 and see if the code goes away?

I got this code once when I was at the track and used their on-location fuel pump.

With only 3k miles, no tune, and an intake that’s properly installed and a clean MAF I suspect it’s bad fuel. Not sure if adding e85 would help but you could drain the tank and fill with a good quality 93 (I always use Shell 93).

Thank you for your insight! Will try this today.

Sounds like a fuel issue like everyone is saying. What do you normally pump?

I have been pumping 93 at my local 711 since I got the car. A day before I got the code I pumped 93 at a racetrac a few cities away so it does sound like it was a fuel issue.
