No offense to aFe, but i think no one should be buying their DP per it's sheer diameter sizing. I've seen similar reviews and pictures like this... Looks to be 3.5" tubing all across.

Can you comment on the sound and performance difference between the two?
Was aFe deeper sounding or something?
Hard to comment on sound too much as I am running an aftermarket exhaust (AWE) that now seems to be responsible for most of the sound, which is a very low/deep tone without any higher pitch “tinny” sounds. The power needy did seem to possibly have a little bit better flow with slight performance gains but this was all from feel. In a few weeks I I’ll get it back on the dyno. I did feel like the swap affected throttle closure before the shifts a little better because the “fart” noise at WOT seemed to be less pronounced. So far, happy I made the shift. Primary reason I started looking for a new downpipe was speed industries YouTube video reviewing some of the more popular catted downpipes. Although they didn’t specifically talk about power needy they are a small business close to me (located in Idaho Falls, ID) and were very responsive via Facebook messenger and answered all my questions. The quality of the welds look amazing. So far, happy with the purchase.

Your videos seem to show FI exhaust tips.

Do you only have the downpipe and the tips?
or
Do you actually have the whole FI exhaust system?
If you are asking about my post, it is the full FI turbo back exhaust. Catted downpipe from FI, and the catback/muffler portion from FI as well. I opted for the carbon fiber tips as well.

I'll be surprised if a catted picks up more than 10 hp. Bang for the buck diminishes rapidly as you work your way down this list.
You think quality coincides with the price? I thought I had heard good things about the VRSF dp...

And $700 Powerneedy doesn’t match up with the $1000 AMS and Active Autowerkes DPs?

When it comes to catted downpipes, the quality of the cats plays a big role.

Active Autowerke uses GESI cats which guarantee no CEL. It's more expensive than generic cats but worth the price.

I am wondering why some dps did not bother to include a bracket. I would think that would make it harder to install, align and be more of a risk with it solely hanging from the vclamp. The only thing i can think of is that maybe some versions dont have a bracket because they are used in other vehicles where the bracket would not properly align.

I'd still like to see some unbiased dyno results comparing stock dp, aftermarket catted and catless on the same car. That's what really matters.

My understanding: The downpipes are much lighter than stock and so does not require the extra support. Adding the bracket would increase weight. The steel bracket can also be removed from the car to reduce weight further, I think its only other use is as a clip for the battery starter cable..

The bracket helps align the dp in the correct orientation and holds it in place as you position the vband

I didn't have any problems aligning the dp without the bracket since I found the clamp only fits when the pipes are flush (AA DP has no bracket). The bracket was convenient holding up the stock dp after the clamps were removed though (so the heavy thing didn't fall on my face when undoing the clamp).

What i mean about aligning is the rotation not the matings with the turbo.... was it fairly easy to ensure the dp was rotated correctly without the bracket to ensure its position? If the stock exhaust is still bolted on then it would be very obvious but if you are also adding an aftermarket exhaust where you would leave everything loose until it was aligned would that mean also needing to leave the vclamp loose so you can rotate it into position?

I installed the AA DP with HKS exhaust. It was easy, attach turbo clamp but don't tighten all the way attach catback clamp and alignment will be correct itself. Then just tighten bolts on both clamps. The sensor positions also help with alignment. TBH, if I reverted back to the stock bracket, I would do the same thing, only torque once everything is fitted/aligned, otherwise you risk cross threading etc....
