Big puffs of smoke when coming to a stop

I currently have a 2021 supra that has a catless downpipe, exhaust, intake and is custom tuned on jb4. I noticed at 17k miles I am not able to measure my oil and recently the car at 27k miles it started to noticeably smoke a lot when the car is fully warmed up and is coming to a stop. Blue smoke to be exact and my oil consumption is becoming worse and worse. my last oil change at 29k miles I lost about 1.5 quarts in a 1000 miles (30100)

My simplistic non mechanic opinion:

I’d get her checked for leaks for sure. Blue smoke definitely can be indicative of an oil leak.

Ask an independent BMW shop about doing a compression test. They also have fancier scanning tools. Like the one below to look for any other codes you could be throwing:

Let them know if you see any visible oil on the car itself or below (where she sits/parks). You also might want to consider not running the JB4 24/7 if you’re tune is set for single drag runs.

So, if I recall right... 2020 and some 2021 cars experience oil pump failures. The biggest sign is the car won't electronically measure oil levels.

Given your oil usage and smoke, can't help but wonder if a ring has gone also.

Highly suggest a visit to a local BMW tech ASAP because either case if ignored will leave you with a VERY large bill.

I am very much aware of these issues and I can’t help but stress lol. I have warranty on the car and I took it to the dealership after putting back everything to stock parts and removing the jb4. I feel like my dealership isn’t really qualified to work on the car, they seem extremely clueless after pointing out multiple major reasons why that would happen. I live in a smaller town so we don’t have any good shops that I trust or at least knowledgeable about the platform. Currently doing a 2nd oil consumption test for the dealership and I have to bring back the car to them in 1100-1300 miles. They claimed they were able to measure my oil but I just attempted to do it myself and I wasn’t able to what so ever.

Collabs are cool but since it's a BMW, a BMW tech is really your only avenue for an accurate diagnosis. If you want peace of mind, I'd pay for 1 hour of labor for a local BMW tech to have a look. With your bill, have them detail what they see. Then take that bill to Toyota and tell them you had an independent, ASE certified BMW tech look at it and here are the concerns. If they give you pushback, ask to speak to the service manager (nicely) and if he pushes back, ask for the contact at Toyota to "escalate" this to.

If they fix it from there, I also have a feeling Toyota may reimburse you for the diagnostic work from the BMW tech too.

Oil will still read if the car is not fully warmed up, they have to drive it for at least 20 min. Oil temp should be at ~100°C, it will fail to read you level at that temp.

Unfortunately this is true for most of us. Small or large town. The Toyota dealerships are probably decent with other Toyotas. Not our BMW B58 engine.

This is the way. Mighty nice of ya! I feel this engine is pretty well understood by most BMW mechanics.

I’ve had an issue very similar to this, thought it was PCV system, leaky turbo and everything else. It ended up being too much oil in the car. I took it for an oil change at Toyota (never doing that again) and they overfilled it by what seemed to be a quart. I opened the oil pan bolt a lil bit, let it drip over a few hours into an oil bucket, then sealed it back up. What I noticed is after draining half a quart, the car still said it was full. I drained the second half and brought it just below full. After that it’s been smooth sailing. Hope your issue is as easy as this fix!

Why have the oil changing trainee’s work on my car, when I can have the guy who finally was brave enough to open his own shop and has to worry about every damn customer and his reputation? ?

Hot down here. Many of us use a 5-30 or thicker oil. Depends on your use as well. Couple hundred threads of which oil to use on the forum

That was my next choice of oil, my recent oil change I decided to use oem spec since I am trying to get claimed under warranty work. Will see how that goes
