Hello all,

I used bimmercode to set the car to always start in Sports Individual mode. But lately I noticed when I cold start, even though it says sport mode, the flap is not always open by default. I had to hit sport button to set it back to normal mode and then hit it again back to sport mode to open the flaps.

Is it because the car is set to keep the flap closed during cold start no matter what mode you are in? I read somewhere about pulling fuse or bimmerlink to keep it always open.

Thanks!

If you truly want to keep it open, put the car in sport mode and get it hot. Drive it around for a bit.

Then go to the trunk, passenger side wall. Make sure the car is still running and visually inspect the exhaust to make sure the flap is open. If yes: Pull fuse F203. It's 7.5 amps.

The flap actuator will no longer function and the flap will always stay open.

You are brilliant as usual! Thanks ??
So pull the one circled 7.5 and what’s the other big circle for? And you pointed to that top missing fuse that says 200 or something in the pic? Thanks Thrax!!

Arrow is probably just pointing to the circled fuse that gets removed. Big circle is the fuse puller.

I tried this out yesterday. Not a huge difference in sound but still noticeable and got a few more pops/bangs. For some reason my car didn't come with a fuse puller. Factory weight reduction?
In normal mode, there would be more exhaust sound without the pops and bangs, correct? That would be the main reason I do it.

Our car comes with a fuse puller?!? Damn she’s fancy ?

Makes way more sense now that you said that… ?

I normally drive in sport mode and was reading that the valve does close in sport mode under certain conditions which is why I tried this out. I simply wanted the valve to be open 100% of the time regardless of drive mode.

The exhaust valves on modern Audi RS models work in a similar way and close at certain RPM even when operating the exhaust valve open button.

This is quite interesting. I guess it’s just a sign of the times. Not to sound like a boomer, but I don’t think sports cars should come with sport modes?

I guess I kind of agree with you in a way. I drive in sport mode pretty much all the time because I feel like that's how the car should feel and sound by default from the factory. However, of all the cars I've had with "sport" modes, this car is probably the least amount of difference between the two modes when toggling back and forth. The exhaust thing is just personal preference. I want the car to sound the loudest at all times without the dumb flap doing whatever it does even in sport mode. But again, the difference was so minimal when I took the fuse out I might just put it back in and just get an aftermarket exhaust that deletes the stupid valve all together.

Just give me a button that says valve open and sound amplified OFF, so I can mash it!

My car didn't come with the red fuse puller, do you by chance have a part number for that? Thanks
