Blind Spot Monitor - Error

Hi,
We took the bumper off to wrap and now when I started to drive off, a notification popped up "Veh. msg Blind spot Monitor".
I checked the side mirrors turn signal and they light up but I did notice that the arrow on the side mirror itself did not light up and could not pick up the car next team when on the road.
Has anyone else every encountered the same issue?
Couldn't find on the forums what drives that feature, like is it a sensor someone on the body of the car that needs to be cleaned or replaced?

I was thinking the same thing but wouldn’t the sensors around the whole body come up as an error as well, which it did not. Maybe someone knows which sensor drives that feature like is it on the actual side mirrors itself.

There are no sensors on the mirror. BSM uses the sensors on the side of the bumper primarily for blind spots. The front and rear ones mainly for front and rear detection.

BSM sensors wouldn’t disable all sensors.

Was the battery disconnected when the sensors were disconnected? If not this always causes a problem.

I agree with @Eastwood if the battery was not disconnected during the removal process this error could occur. Maybe try to disconnect the battery for 5 min and reconnect see if it resets the code. If not then i would maybe look on bimmerlink to see if you can reset through there.

Maybe a way to test which sensor it is, would be to the car in reverse in a tight area and see which part of the part of the cars sensor lights up red in the diagram

If you have it, use Protool to tell you which sensor is giving you the error. I had a BSM error and it told me my passenger mirror was the issue as it has the part that lights up the orange triangle in the mirror (that was dead).

oh thats right. You can also just use a cheap android tablet too. There are different licenses depending on what you need from the app...

Not sure, I use the Thor adapter, but its free to try the app and at least see if it the MHD connects before purchasing one of the licenses.

mhd universal (red one) works with protool. that's what I use.
