Box above air filter box?

Can anyone tell me what that thing is above the air filter box?
It doesn't look like it has any important function. It is solid and cannot be opened. Also there are no cables or sensors hanging there. What does this thing do?

Get an aftermarket cold air intake from armaspeed or MST. I personally have armaspeed no resonator and replaces turbo inlet pipe. The turbo sounds with the those two intakes are insane worth the money.

I live in germany and the german TÜV dont allow aftermarket intakes in the case of the supra. Sometimes some intakes got some assessment to make it legal on the street. But currently there is no intake available yet in germany for the supra.

The modification itself is another story. So its safer for me to "plug" that thing or delete it in some other way instead of swap that whole thing...

There are several options to delete the resonator.

Verus Engineering has one, BMS has one, or you can go to the local hardware store and get a rubber end cap.

Verus has a cap for the hole removing the resonator leaves.

I deleted mine and noticed literally no sound difference. Maybe a slight whistle when the car is cool in the low-low rpm. Save your money.

If you do decide to delete the completely useless resonator, it frees up the necessary space to get a Verus Turbo Heat shield and their AOS kit as well.
