Hello,

Does anyone has the factual info about what is the compression? There seems to be conflicting information:

First 2020 Supras had the 2 port exhaust and 11:1 compression ratio, but then for the 2021, the B58 was updated to the 6 port exhaust, but I remember that the compression was lowered to 10.2:1.

Now, in the wiki entry for the B58, the B58B30O1 is listed as the engine for the Supra, M240i, etc, and it has 11:1.

So, which one is it? it went down to 10.2:1 for the 2021 and then back up to 11:1 for the 2022? Or is still 10.2:1?

Not a Corvette.
2020 2port = 11.0:1 (or 2020 to present day in the EU)
21+ 6port = 10.2:1

The new B58 TU2 that is in the X5 and 7 series is going back to 2 port in the USA and has port injection and such. I doubt we will see that in the Supra.

That's my information as well but every single entry about the B58 6 port in the web, references the B58B30O1 with 11:1. Do you know the exact model for 21+ ?

About the X5/X7 and the new M440i, they will be using the Gen3 B58 with the hybrid engine, port injection and stuff. That engine though is having a lot of issues from what I gather in the BimmerPost forums, even issues on the rocker arms. Most if not all the issues are on the head.

BMW B58B30O1 is 10.2:1 in the 2021+ Supra

Toyota has specifically stated the '21 has revised pistons for 10.2:1; it's in the official press release and all the surrounding media coverage. It's unclear if these are custom pistons, or the standard pistons with the -O1 variant of the engine. I assume it is the latter, since every O1-based car has the same 382HP output.

Most of the online resources for B58 cite the standard B58TU 11:1 CR, but not all B58s use this and Toyota has been quite clear about that.
