There are two things the dealer needs to truly unlock the car:

Specialist cable and laptop software to take it out of transport mode, supplied by BMW.
The VIN has to be sent to an office in Germany to unlock the navigation maps. Apparently they locked to each cars vin. Guess that's something to do with the licensing of maps in the navi software.

I don't think its a code your dealer needs, its probably the cable itself, but I have not had my car unlocked yet. SnapOn will be visiting on the 30th to do it I have been told.

As for the mileage, some people here have said 7-8 miles on the clock once they got theirs, others have said all they did was drive it into a parking spot and out again, so I don't think we know for sure.

Sorry to be that guy, but there are few PDI topics that discuss what steps are taken during. Someone posted the individual steps for taking it out of transpo-mode. Please search for it.
Not everyone's experience, but my radar sensor required adjustment. That was discovered during PDI when the system threw fault codes.

If anyone knows how the dealer is supposed to gain access to the "ISTA software" please fill me in. Do they get it at the same time they request the NAV code?

My dealer just texted me informing me of a required 45 minute dealer drive of the car to engage customer Mode?!? Iā€™ve bought a lot of new cars and have never heard of this one.

Anyone else getting this kind of story? Sounds to me like they want to take it for a joyride.

Is there a valet or security setting to prevent valets or mechanics from using the launch control and otherwise ā€˜hot riddingā€™ the car? This happened to a friendā€™s Challenger Super Bee while getting a tire repaired at a dealer. He later discovered he has valet settings.

Not standard. But itā€™s an option with the jb4

I think those throttle controllers - Pedal Commander, Sprint Booster and Pedal Box - all have valet modes.

I'm not having issues with customer mode, transport mode BUT showroom mode!
Can't get rid of it, have to take it back this week to see the Supra tech
