There are two things the dealer needs to truly unlock the car:
Specialist cable and laptop software to take it out of transport mode, supplied by BMW.
The VIN has to be sent to an office in Germany to unlock the navigation maps. Apparently they locked to each cars vin. Guess that's something to do with the licensing of maps in the navi software.
I don't think its a code your dealer needs, its probably the cable itself, but I have not had my car unlocked yet. SnapOn will be visiting on the 30th to do it I have been told.
As for the mileage, some people here have said 7-8 miles on the clock once they got theirs, others have said all they did was drive it into a parking spot and out again, so I don't think we know for sure.
