I would be really surprised this is what the next gen Copen will be like, no longer being a Kei car and switching from FWD to RWD, because ever since the around the 2000s Daihatsu has been aggressively cost cutting their powertrains and chassis, with their cars usually being below average in the way they drive in their respective classes.

If they really put this into production, it would be the most un-post-2000s-Daihatsu model they've ever produced.

with the increase in size and displacement, im kinda hopefully that perhaps a Toyota variant will make it state side.

Im thinking this will be a JDM only model. Maybe a rebadged version will be sold in Europe under the Toyota badge. That would make sense since the GR86 will be killed off after 2025
