Is there a recommended additive that u can add to your fuel tank to prevent carbon buildup on intake valves?

Don’t think a fuel additive would do much unless you have port injection. CRC intake valve cleaner might do the trick.

I put a couple of ounces of Red Line's Si-1 in every other tank fill, in order to help keep the injectors clean and provide upper cylinder lubrication. I doubt it does much for intake valves, due to having direct injection. Using the proper oil spec and regular changes can reduce intake valve deposits.

Ok, so how do the undersides of the intake valves gets cleaned? From the pics I’ve seen of direct engine motors, they get pretty nasty,
And from a performance point of view, it’s not a good thing!

They don't, this is the potential downside of DI.

So, u have to take motor apart to clean intakes?. , mind you, that on a regular
Grocery getter, I could care less, but on a performance vehicle, that cost 60k,!
The cost to have this procedure done must cost a fortune!!!?

Go buy a car from 10 years ago then. Also, I think you are blowing it out of proportion.

Walnut blasting just like the N54/N55 motors. Dunno if a BMW dealership will want to touch the Supra, but it was roughly $600-800 service when done at the dealer. Every.... 60-80K miles IIRC, it's been a hot minute since I've been around the N54/N55 platform.

You have 3 choices:

1) Get the valves walnut blasted every ~40K.
2) Run CCV+PCV catch can.
3) Run port injection to bathe the backside of the valves.

Ideally, all three. Can skip #1 after port injection.

All of the above is true of any GDI car, Supra or otherwise.

I have yet to see a catch can that actually worked on a B58 motor, port injection will definitely clean valves, but u void your warranty, and I would like to see the procedure of “walnuts blasting my engine “
Do they really use walnuts ??

I’ve been taking mine to a BMW dealer for all the maintenance, which so far has just been 3 oil changes. generally the guys checking you in are confused but quickly realize it’s exactly like the rest of the cars they’re used to. So far so good ?

Dual catch cans work on B58. Single does not. If you decide to dismantle your intake, you will find oil contamination in both the PCV and CCV hoses. Anyone on the forum can confirm this for themselves in an hour of work.
