How are you cleaning your engine cover? It's not a smooth surface and I find it hard to wipe down. I was thinking about taking it right off and washing it with a wash mitt and car soap and water. What are others here doing to clean it?

This post gives me troll vibes. I foresee it turning into an oil thread.

I pin mine up at the manual car wash, hit it with foam brush and power sprayer.

I power wash my engine compartment and underside of the hood at an old school diy quarter car wash. I simply use the soap selection and the rinse. No other cleaner products needed.

I typically don't wipe the engine cover off after washing ... for a microfiber towel just drags on the rough surface and leaves fibers behind. I just let it air dry or use an air blower (see photo). The blower is great for eliminating the ongoing water drips and hard to reach crevices inside the interior and only $35!

And I never elect to spray or wipe any type of dressing on my engine bits for it just attracts dust and looks greasy.

Another product I love to use after every wash is Griots Garage 'best of show spray wax' (the best imo & easy to use). Spray and wipe with a clean microfiber towel. A fantastic quick detailer that adds a slick feel and shine.

I find the engine bay actually remains pretty clean. I just give it an occasional spick and span wipe with a damp (water only) microfibre cloth every few months. And I know what you mean about the weird surface of the engine cover - wiping it felt weird and left streaks. I've got a BMW cover on mine now and it's somewhat smoother so a damp cloth works for me.

I keep a spray bottle of rinseless car wash around to get bird poo off between washes. I use it on the plastic engine cover if it looks nasty enough when I open the hood.

I would remove the cover from the car and just wash it using car wash + boar's hair brush. Then wash the rest of the engine bay using the same method.

For those plastic covers and Weathertechs, etc I use Aerospace303 after the wash 50/50 dilluted with distilled water.

My car runs the Eventuri fancy CF cover so I just use some detailer spray and MF towel. ?
