Kind of lame only being at 25-30 from the group buy, asked @DivineDrive.co when they were heavy promoting it on Facebook and was told a late December shipping date. It's now mid February and seems like mine is not even close to being shipped. Hate when companies aren't transparent enough to give actual ETAs. I get it, its is a small business; I'm not expecting Amazon prime shipping.

The lack of updates after the group buy is crazy. They went from updating and responding to comments to one comment a month or so 💀

Not saying i'm happy about it (emailed 9 days ago got no response).....but this isn't the same as as a large corp being this far back on fulfilling orders. It's just 1 guy it seems, and he's clearly bitten off more than he could chew. Just some less than ideal planning. He's been slow, but at least he's been shipping orders.

Let us know the next time you have to 3D print and create bespoke packaging for 50+ orders by yourself.

100% agree with you, lack of communication is not ideal. I'm not expecting overnight service either, just to make it clear to everyone.

If it wasn't for the people coming back and updating everyone about their order, we would have no idea of current status.

Don’t think @Juanito08 is wrong. If you’re gonna do business, just do it right. I really don’t give a fawk that you’re a one man team or that your moms needs help. Maybe in 2 weeks.

I don’t think it would have been professional or appropriate for me to bitch about all the issues I was having so I just kept solving each one and moved onto the next. But it looks like some people want a bit more transparency, so here we go. This is a long post so bare with me.

Printing 50+ orders is not challenging if I was using PLA or PETG material. I could have done it in a couple weeks if that was the case, but these parts are printed using ASA. This is the best material for outdoor automotive use. It is durable and UV resistant. However, it is known to warp like ABS. Even with a full enclosure and preheating it to 65c it still results in layer shifting due to temperature variations. Printing a solid shape would have been fine but these parts are thin. They are 2mm all around. It was continuously warping no matter what setting or what orientation the parts were printing in. To make things worse each piece took 6-8 hours to print. That is 6-8 hours until being able to see if it printed successfully or if it warped again. Each time you don’t know if it was good or if you have just wasted another roll of filament. I didn’t know exact how to fix it. This was uncharted territory. It was not like I could just search Youtube and watch a video about fixing “thin walled ASA 3D printing without layer shifting”. In total it took about 15-20+ revisions using different techniques like CAD changes, custom supports, advanced print settings, etc. to result in a good, shippable part with a clean surface finish and no layer shifting. Each part was different and had different issues. So multiply those revision numbers by 3 different parts needed for this kit then times that by the 6-8 hours needed to print 1 part. You get the idea. I already bought more printers for this project, but it wasn’t enough. Going from PLA prototype to ASA production was a nightmare,. It took what seemed like months, but in the end I painfully figured out new techniques and solved the ASA printing issues.

Next up was vehicle coding. I made this kit for MT but I couldn’t just ignore all the AT owners. If they wanted to install this they would have needed to remove the front radar and it would have displayed errors. So how do we disable errors? Though vehicle coding. Coding has a very steep learning curve. The ECU stores tens of thousands unique parameters that it continuously reads and editing these parameters can get the vehicle to do what you want. The problem is there is zero documentation on all these parameters, only info about parameters are common changes like sport mode auto on and disabling fake engine noise and other bimmercode superficial mods. There is nothing online about removing a radar on the Supra. Advanced coding didn’t use bimmercode. It used proprietary software and “psdzdata” vehicle profiles files that was not easy to get my hands on. I had to sort this out before shipping any kits for AT customers. The “professional coding experts” were no help. They just wanted to charge $200 per session and kept all the secrets to themselves. I had to roll up my sleeves and teach myself how to code a car in a matter of days. I was stuck in a cold garage with my laptop connected to the car, working on this everyday for a couple weeks straight. In the end my brain did not fail me and I once again painfully figured it out. Then I had to document everything and repackage it to make it easy for people to do on their own. Not to mention also writing a full instruction booklet with photos and screenshots. Vehicle coding was the second nightmare.

Other issues included figuring out packaging (which still crazy expensive at $30 each box for the foam), UPS losing shipments, filament stock shortages, 3D printers constantly breaking, all the hand sanding and post processing of prints, etc. but I won’t go into details as this post is getting long.

What could have gone wrong did go wrong and instead of giving up like what most people would have done, I chugged along, worked hard and still managed to ship out orders along the way.

Is this “just doing it right” enough for you guys?

looks like neither of you were actually on the group buy, and the creator even communicated that group buy people get things first (as they should) so I actually don’t know what either of you are crying about, other than being insufferable humans.

You two knuckle draggers are why we can’t have nice things.

You don’t got to explain shit to these bums especially that much detail lol. They don’t care they’d still ask eta and want it asap.
Thank you for your hard work!

Idk why everyone is so heated đŸ€Ł

Just to be clear — I’m not attacking anyone or demanding unrealistic timelines. I’m just saying better communication goes a long way so people don’t feel in the dark, that’s all.

@DivineDrive.co I genuinely appreciate the response. And I don’t want to speak for the whole group (because I’ll probably get flamed again 😅), but sharing the challenges you’re dealing with isn’t “bitching.” It actually helps. It makes people feel included in the process instead of guessing what’s going on.

This Supra community is solid, lots of different people with different skill sets and resources. You might even be surprised; someone here could have insight or experience that helps you work through whatever hurdles you’re facing.
