I’m posting to see if I could get some help on the issues I’m having with my waste gate. I recently installed a VTT CNC aluminum valve cover on the car due to cracking original part. The car ran fine no codes. Did pulls on the car and couple of late night spirited drives. Drove the car for about 2 weeks until I went out of town for 2 weeks. When I came back I got these codes….
123516Electric Wastegate; Control: line break
120408Boost control; Shutdown: Pressure
build-up blocked
I checked all my connections of the car and checked if any wires were damaged etc… I didn’t find anything. I don’t believe that my waste gate is bad, only because the actuator moves from the calibration on turning on the car. I cleared the codes but it’s seems when I start to drive the car (I assume when it hits any amount of boost) the codes comes up and I get hit with a drive train malfunction and reduced power notification but no check engine light. The car is reduced in power and I am getting no boost, usually I can hear turbo but I am assuming it’s not spoiling anymore.

I have a pure 850 turbo, radium port injection kit, ams intake, ams charge pipe, TMS reflex flex fuel kit and currently tuned by marin (hasn’t gotten back to me)… I did some light logs if anyone can help me read them I would appreciate it.

Please share pictures of the actuator, especially the piston coming out of the wastegate; the linkages secured with C-clips; the green-painted nut; the connector and wiring that is plugged into the EWG.

The 123516 code can be caused by a boost leak, so make sure your cold side is reassembled correctly if you took it off to do the valve cover work.

Also be certain that your battery is actually charged. No, I do not mean "the car starts so it must be good, right?" Actually check it with a trickle charger or a multimeter with awareness of the appropriate float charge for a full battery. Low battery causes all manner of weird issues on BMW and Mercedes vehicles.

Lastly, the EWG could simply be bad.

I’ll disassemble and reinstall intake and charge pipe the cold side to double check. I’ll check the battery as well to see if that’s the issue. I’m hoping it’s just a simple boost leak or a simple fix. Will keep the post updated

update
Here are pictures and video of the actuator moving. I evidently had a bad battery I replace with and coded the battery to the car but the codes still popped up…..
