I’m not a car guy so.... whenever I park my Supra (not a daily driver with only 4K miles on it) in the garage after driving it smells like new plastic?? (best way I can describe it). It’s not a bad smell per se just odd as my 2020 MDX has no odor at all. It’s definitely coming from the rear engine compartment. I’ve checked, nothing’ leaking etc. Any ideas? Is it normal? Thanks in advance.

Fairly normal for a new car to “burn in” if you will...manifolds, belts, new engine compartment paint, etc. really to many things to list but all common on a new car. Should go away as you drive it.

Thank you. I did just happen to check the main coolant reservoir and that’s definitely what I’m smelling though it’s not a “sweet” smell as people often describe. It turns out my main reservoir is overfilled by a good inch or two above max and the cap threads are covered in white mineral deposits. Should I remove the excess since it’s a pressurized system? I’m assuming I need a new cap at a minimum?

Take it to the dealership. The best outcome would be the issue is a defective cap. But are you checking the level while the engine is still hot? Because there's no 'good' reason for the reservoir to be overfilled when cool, unless it was serviced incorrectly. If the engine was overheating, there would be an urgent warning message.

I've seen this happen to a few people, a bag stuck to the exhaust/header/downpipe...and it does have a coolant-like smell.
