Going to be unlocking my 22 Supra ecu very soon and I thought of something that gave me pause. Now I never go to a dealership for anything and I'm lucky to have a great Euro shop in my neighborhood to work on my car if needed BUT it just hit me that what would happen if they ever come out with a serious recall on this car or if you need to take the supra in if say something like a electric problem happens or some small problems happen in the car that would still be covered in this car even with unlocking the ecu?? How do you go to a dealership and make sure they don't re lock your ecu and you waste $2,000?? What have all you ecu unlocked guy's done if this happens, cause this could be a major problem. I understand losing my warranty but I don't want to be afraid to drop off my car incase of a recall or small covered repairs.

They sell locks that you can put over the ODB port, as well as you could speak to your service advisor before hand.

I think most people just don't take their cars to a Toyota dealer if it needs work. Either do the work themselves or take it to a shop that knows what they're doing.

Don't want to go to a dealership ever but like I said just incase of an important recall or if something goes wrong under warranty I don't want to pay out of pocket if the dealership could fix for free.

You won’t need to do the clone again.. you’ll just need to pay for another bench unlock

I always say this if people say anything about warranty......dont modify your vehicle.

I'd rather die as a result of recall than go back to a dealer for anything.

I have a 4/20 DME, how much does a bench unlock cost? I am still undecided if I am going to tune car. I might even sell it.
