sorry i'm so late. the installation worked. it took me quite a long time, i think it was about 5 hours. the result is perfect. no protruding cables, no tape, everything is well hidden. if you want, i can take a picture of the result the next few days.

thanks to all helpers!

Did you figure out how to get the door assist to work?
No, sorry. I have already seen your previous question. But I have not installed mine. I wanted the colored light to light up directly when unlocking.

Thank you for this thread! This weekend I installed footwell/rear speaker lights.

I used 2 unused fuse locations - one in the front (footwell lights), one in the rear (speaker lights). Cables and lights are completely hidden and it all looks very clean.

Everything turns on when the doors open and turns off 6 minutes after locking the doors.

Thanks all who contributed to this thread. I couldn’t be happier with the result! I know this stuff is pretty easy in terms of modifications but I’ve never done anything like this, so I’m going to take the win on this :)

Hello, I'm trying to add the Footwell lights to my 21 3.0 Premium (US model). Anyone have an idea what the part number is for the Pigtail connector to the 81080-WAA01 LED Lamps?

We don't have the wiring for footwell lighting on US spec'd cars. Best thing to do is to buy some LED strips and wire them in.

Right, I wanted to make the install look nice and clean by ordering the proper connectors for the lamps and power them by tapping into the fuse panel (either F46 or F62). Just curious if anyone knew what type of connector these lights require and where to order them.

I’m interested in doing the same thing with the OEM lights. Did some thinking/digging, it appears the footwell and trunk lights may be the same or very close to the same. Thinking it’s possible they use the same connector. Haven’t confirmed this but just a thought.

I wonder if you can somehow tap in with the exterior door handle courtesy light. I believe those come on when you open the doors at night and as you unlock the car for first few seconds.

I would think that it would be easier to access the interior dome light and pull a wire along the A pillar down? Assuming it lights up when the doors are opened on US cars?
You could use a relay if you're afraid of overloading the circuit.
Just a suggestion ??

Brilliant! Actually, I would imagine the Gray/Yellow wire coming in from the door, wouldn't be hard to locate and tap into in the footwell area. Then again it's real tight in that area last I looked.

Will take a look when I'm fully awake later today lol

So my idea of the plug for the trunk lights being the same was almost right. The slight difference preventing it from going into the footwell light is the piece on the side of the plug. Tried my best to highlight what I’m talking about. I believe I’m going to look for a Supra at a junkyard, snip off the trunk lights, and remove that piece because otherwise they appear to fit perfectly. The small tab for keeping it connected looks to be in the right spot. Another project for the spring time. In the picture the trunk light is on top, footwell light is on the bottom. You can see the slot that piece slides into. It’s sideways on the footwell light.
