Great thread and initial write up, I ordered my 510s today! Being that they are built based off orders, how long was your wait?

Alright, time for an update!

Now that im running more aero and such, ive upped my spring rates to 14kF/20kR (divorced).

So far the car responded extremely well to the stiffer springs and im now able to set my dampers much closer to the middle of the adjustment range (12 clicks, 24 total). Prior to this rate i had to try and control body movement by cranking up the rebound....which isn't really how you do that but regardless thats what I had to do.

Ive driven the car on track twice now and have another event next weekend along with some street miles here in Pittsburgh. If anyone knows Pittsburgh, the roads are less than ideal, and the higher rate definitely highlights that. so overall ride comfort has definitely suffered but if your Supra is more of a track car it feels right. Ride quality is such a subjective feeling but if I had to sum it up on the street, it feels like a track car.

As for on track, man it feels worlds different than the prior rate. The car takes a set much faster, transitions quicker, and pitch/dive is minimalized. Looking at pics of my car on track before and after the rate change, ive noticed the car retains positive rake at WOT and doesnt squat as much which is a definite plus when it comes to aero.

As for shock longevity, I cant speak to that so far, although I was assured by Fortune Auto that a rate change of 4k really shouldn't be a big deal. I spoke with them on the phone and was basically told that yes the 510's valving can tolerate an 8k rate swing but thats definitely more toward the extreme.

An important thing to note:
RMC motorsports specs a 9" spring for the divorced rear. More than likely you'll have trouble finding a 9" spring at 20k or similar rates, this means you must run a helper or tender spring along with am adapter for said springs to coexist. If you hope to run relatively close to stock ride height (14.5" from wheel center to fender) you will either need a tender with an appropriate stack height fully compressed, OR Fortune Auto's helper spring perch spacer. Most helper springs have a very low to 0 rate and thus when compressed contributes very little to the stack height. This spacer essentially adds to the compressed stack height to ensure you can reach your desired ride height. See the pictures below:

I'm thinking of getting FA 500s with swift springs. I have a verus UCW wing, and a streethunter front lip.

Is 10k front, 14k rear too stiff for a daily driver?

Too stiff is difficult to discern. How stiff is too stiff to you?

For reference, I daily my supra on 10k/14k FA510s and have gotten nothing but compliments on how compliant it is on the streets.

How’s 10k/14k compared to stock? Getting my 500’s installed soon

Finally got around to installing mine. All four corners bolted up, no wheels yet. Love how your car sits in the OP photos, @rwense, and I was curious if you could give some guidance on ride height.

To get the height in your photos, are we talking like a finger gap between the front locking collars? Three fingers? What was the rear like? Trying to dial in something approximate before I get the car down. Minimize the up-and-down time.

Thanks again for the recommendation. The FA510s are very nice. Excited to take them for a drive.

//edit: realize my question is contingent upon how much strut body you threaded into the mount. I YOLO'd 50mm up front and 25mm in back. Should be fun to see how wrong it is.

Like @Rensuhlo said, its a bit of a subjective statement but from my experience with 10kF/14kR on FA510s it was perfectly fine as a daily. Also depends on the damping you set. Something to note, from what ive read and heard on various other platforms the difference between FA500s and FA510s is pretty large. Seems like the 500s valving isn't as great as 510s as they have digressive valving. So ymmv with 500s. If going down that route I would contact FA and tell them this is a day driver so they can choose valving/spring rates for you.

But regardless id recommend the 510s.

Glad you like them! Lmk how the car sits with that setup. I can take some measurements when I get a minute.

Finally had a chance to dial them in this evening, and man these feel fantastic. I'm at 8 clicks from full soft on front/rear for road use and you can tell you're on coilovers, but it's so compliant on bumps and cracks. It legitimately feels fantastic.

Different platforms, but can confirm what's been said about FA 500 vs 510. There's a huge difference there. No matter the damper settings, it seems difficult to tune out secondary damping oscillations with the FA 500 on my friend's s2k.

For the FA 510 on my supra, the adjustments seem to have much more of an impact on the damping characteristics of the coil over.

I've had somewhere around 20 track days on the Supra with these coil overs (bought after a rebuild from previous owner), and aside from some squeaking under compression, the are performing fantastically. I'll get them rebuilt at the end of this season (and maybe do a winter track day to test).
