Wanted to follow up after SCCA TT Nats at Pitt Race. We had medium temps that peaked in the upper 80's (87 was the highest according to the weather station, the car read 91 during the outlap). I ran 7 of the 10 sessions with the longest session being 6 laps. I pulled everything out of the trunk this time instead of leaving the carpet and panel over top.

I kept the tank mostly full so no fuel starve, and there weren't any CEL incidents from the FPC. I don't know if it was due to having the trunk open or the FPC cover I printed.

I'm going to do another track day at CMP next month and this time I'll leave the mats in to see what it does. October in South Carolina should still see low 80's for temp and I'm very familiar with CMP so it'll be a reasonable test.

Those are for the older modules. The G series don't have that common issue.

With some codes with bmw, what happened and why it tripped it might be different than what the code says. VANOS is a great example. If you overrun the HPFP at high engine speeds, then shift, you get a VANOS clamp code that states VANOS is out of spec, when in reality, it was the HPFP getting overrun and shutting down, thus putting a different load on the cam, which trips the VANOS code.

Damn so error 2 and 3 are related to each other? If yes thanks for the info boss

EDIT: Got the code after a track day

So I got the same error, tuner said its from filling up my tank completely that's why the fuel pump overheated, recommends not filling the tank completely while ragging the car around.

They're wrong, or everyone at every track day would get that error. Which tuner do you use?

The fuel pump is submerged in fuel which has a cooling effect. The fuel pump controller is not. It's a small electrical board encased in a plastic box, buried under the trunk floor/carpet, right above the differential with the exhaust.

Yea, I was going to say the same thing, that is 100% BS. Fuel cools. The pump is always submerged in fuel because it's in a basket. Only time it wouldn't be is when you would fuel starve and then you have other issues.

I fully fill my tank to where it is overflowing before every session, been doing that with the supra since 2022, 80+ track events, over 2,400 laps.

Ah shit, if what you guys are saying is the case then I have a bigger issue, what caused it and what is the best way to combat it?

I only got it after refueling my car mid track, - if that even differs, when I entered the first time it was pretty much full

If you're getting the FPC over temp range 2 error, then pull the panels in the trunk to uncover the box that houses the FPC. Leave the hatch open between sessions and it "should" cool off enough. If you're still getting it you can try the print option I created and posted earlier in here. I posted pictures showing where the box is housed so it's easy to recognize.

If you're getting a fuel pump error then that's something else. Adding fuel to the top won't hurt the car.
