Happened to be at the dealer today and asked if they had the capability to do iDrive software updates...met with blank stares and nobody was sure. Maybe we have to take our Supras to a BMW dealer? LOL

Good luck BMW dealers either have no clue or don’t want to do it.Happened to be at the dealer today and asked if they had the capability to do iDrive software updates...met with blank stares and nobody was sure. Maybe we have to take our Supras to a BMW dealer? LOL
Driving improvements?Good luck BMW dealers either have no clue or don’t want to do it.
Several have been able to get it done after fighting and others just paid out of pocket.
I’ll likely go the pay route if it is reasonable. Many have reported driving improvements (X3M forum) but I wonder how much is a placebo effect.
I don’t get why they wouldn’t want to give the latest and greatest to increase customer satisfaction.
probably the smoothnesss... i've noticed recently that iDrive has been quite laggy...Driving improvements?
It’s like getting a COVID vaccination for your car. It’s a bit of a chore.I have a feeling this is gonna be a chore to get done if at all
Here's the thread on the X3M forum (hopefully I am not violating any rules here).Driving improvements?

- Lane keep & ACC now behaves like you would expect, pingpong is much less, and car is much more reactive on corners.. no more "uhh is the car going to follow this corner?"
- Lane keep now works during the day where there's less contrast on lane markings
- Delay from a slow rolling start <1mph but not stopped is fixed, no more hesitation or a small clunk if you roll into power a hair too quick for the transmission to react
- instrument cluster doesn't crash anymore if you use the konami code on the M buttons for loud starts
- car doesn't seem to always want to idle high when the cats are cold
- idrive much more responsive
- Suspension damping feels a bit more controlled
- Shifts seem more buttery
- Only con here is.. steering feels different.. unsure if it's better or worse. There's a bit of off center lightness now, but when loaded up it feels better. I think BMW tried to make it feel more natural, but I've grown to enjoy EPS steering with a tight on center feel.. will need to give it a bit more miles to really know. Sport+ seems to be slightly more usable
I agree. On my X3MC, I'm waiting this out to see what is real vs. placebo and then will probably just ask how much. Even then posters have stated some BMW dealerships still wouldn't do the update.I have a feeling this is gonna be a chore to get done if at all
+1 on this, really not digging the forced split screen.Anyone with any updates on this being a possibility?
